Maybe but I would need to spend another couple hundred to find out. I think it is a good deal for the few hundred that I spent. I can put in my CV "online masters in coaching from Clea university Spain campus".

Besides the ENEB/UI1 combo, what other cheapo masters propio would you recommend? I only am interested in the ones with 60 ECTS and 1500 hours, but want them cheap like the ENEB offerings. If it's just 6-12 ECTS, I don't think it would be worth it as those would be considered Masters Course, not really a cert/diploma or degree. And then, there are the inexpensive Level 8 Diplomas available in the UK that ladder into a Doctorate, these can be inexpensive, but one needs to know which institutions would allow a DBA top up from these...

I'm personally very excited for the launch of this one from Unidema:
▷ Máster Online en Economía y Pensamiento Económico (unidema.com)
It will be launched sometime next month and is currently under approval from the academic council.
They will offer it on Groupon too , like their MBAs.
My guesstimate is that they will price at 49 - 99 euro , for which price I'll be happy to bite if I can pladter "master in economics" on my résumé.

By the way, what did University of Illinois decide regarding your admission to iMsM you applied for?

Marketcursos sells Masters for 250 Euros that are 60 ECTS credits that lead to a master propio from CLEA University in Mexico. You get a degree from the Spanish Campus of CLEA University. You can sign up and get an additional 15% discount.

    https://marketcursos.com/p/master-en-psicologia-terapeutica/#respond

CLEA University is recognized by the ministry of education in Mexico but the degree would not be official.

Is that because the degree isn't registered with the RVOE like how Azteca is officially recognized but some degrees they offer aren't registered with the RVOE?

Yes, like in Spain, the minister of education accredits degree programs not Universities. These degrees are granted as "propio" meaning without official recognition. In few words, you cannot practice psychology with a degree from CLEA given by Marketcursos but it can be used as an additional qualification to an existing license. In Spain and Mexico, degrees grant the right to practice a profession so an official degree in Psychology gives you the right to be a psychologists unlike the US that is a professional association that grants a license based on education, experience, etc.

However, many just need to put an MBA in a CV so it passes an HR filter. The mastercursos MBA gives you the right to put an MBA in your CV, as MBAs are not licensed, really it makes no difference if official or not. The issue is if you want to use the degree as a teaching qualification or to pursue a doctorate, in this case the degree will not work.

The main difference is that Azteca charges thousands for their Masters degree. CLEA University is few hundred dollars. Schools are figuring out that even 200 dlls for a pdf file is good income. I think we will see soon a war of schools offering 100 dlls Masters degrees from Spain, Mexico, etc. At the end of the day, it is just a pdf file sent by email.

Nice to see several more resources for continuing education and legal degrees. Most employers will not care about the "propio" status but instead rather the programs are completed at an accredited school. Everyone else on the academic track or completing these primarily for academic purposes will likely have a rude awakening. All and all, these type programs serve the purpose they are designed to serve.

The reality is that even to get an adjunct position a doctorate is required. I think that an MBA from CLEA, Isabel, etc would score about the same that is general business knowledge that is good enough for a starting position. As there are thousands of MBAs, unless your MBA is from ranked school it makes no difference if it is from an unknown school like CLEA or Isabel.

There are still levels to it even with "unknown" schools. There are schools in our own backyards that have little to no recognition outside of their areas, but an MBA from those schools would be better received than most foreign schools that the general person isn't familiar with, especially when the name is immediately detectable as foreign. That doesn't change anything about how we feel about it, but I think it's important to keep that piece in perspective, because the chief reason I think most here are even interested in low-cost foreign programs is because programs in North America have become unreasonably expensive. I have to believe that if that one hurdle were removed people would just go to the little-known school in their hometown and never give these foreign programs a second thought.

You are right, a local MBA from an unraked school is preferable than one from an unknown online school from Spain or Mexico. I was referring for the typical online MBA from a for profit online school. An experiment could be to send a CV with an MBA from a school like ISABEL and the same one with an MBA from a school like California Coast University and see what CV gets more attention. My guess is that it would be about the same number of responses.

I could see that, unless you used one of the allowed Spanish versions of the name, Universidad Isabel I de Castilla/Universidad Internacional Isabel I de Castilla/Universidad Isabel I, then I think there would be a noticeable drop-off giving favor to CCU just because of the immediate detection of Isabel being foreign.

I agree with you that those without doctorates are at a severe disadvantage for adjunct positions, so if you mean for those gigs then I agree, because in both cases I expect the number would be zero.

The foreign degree might be an advantage if the person has an American degree. To the regular person, the MBA from an European School might sound like the person wanted to go there to learn about the culture or language. If it is an online degree, I would think that the person followed the program from a place like Coursera and still would think that might be superior than California Coast. Between CLEA and Isabel, Isabel would score better because it is western european.

For adjunct, maybe Isabel scores better because it accredited in Spain. It is a "propio" degree but to the regular person, it is just another MBA. Not all the schools require foreign evaluations for an adjunct Gig. I worked as an adjunct with a Canadian degree in the US with no WES evaluation. So it might or might not work depending on how desperate is the school to hire you. I would get an MBA in PM or Finance to have a better chance.

How do American colleges look at nationally accredited degrees for adjunct positions?

  17. RFValve

Not very favorable but there are exceptions, in general an RA or foreign equivalent is required.

Is NA seen as that bad in the US?
Why if I can ask? The NY government for example doesn't distinguish between the two for employment?

The accreditation scheme is mainly for transfer from one university or school to another as well as funding opportunities for students and institutions. Accreditation is so broad and obscure here in the USA. It matters most for academic positions and purposes. Outside of that, provided the program completed has a recognized accreditor or reputable backup otherwise, it is good for whatever position that particular field is covered through the accreditation. NA is not bad but is centered more for professional associations and trainings rather than the academy. RA is the golden standard academically and the NA is similar to the propio degree. It's a legitimate program that may not be as academically rigorous but prepares you for the field you wish to enter and meets the academic requirement for that particular career field. It is the higher education institutions themselves that play all the politics.

Do employers ask it if you go for a job interview, whether your degree is NA or RA? Do Americans mention it during a job interview or is it something that is an unwritten rule? Like for example a job description that requires an MBA. Do they say that it's necessary to have an RA degree or would they just state ''MBA needed'' without specifying?

I'm trying to imagine whether everyone is aware of the distinction in the US or whether there are also HR teams that don't even know the difference or care to check it?

I know that ASIC for example is seen as something worthless, but what about DEAC?
