Alas, they've added their first Upgrad Doctorate through a partnership with SSBM Geneva. If you can handle the "upgrad" parts/phases of the program, then this is a very inexpensive GDBA that can be completed in 3 years!

    Upgrad Link: https://www.upgrad.com/ca/doctor-of-business-administration-ssbm
SSBM Geneva site: https://www.ssbm.ch/ , check out their online accreditation/tuition
They have apparently applied for ACBSP already, I wouldn't go for them just yet, until they get it...

Would ACBSP alone even make this legitimate, given it doesn’t appeal to be coming from an actual Swiss university?

That's really a matter of opinion, since accreditation doesn't confer legitimacy, it's merely independent validation of it.

As ever, the important question is whether a particular program is the best suited to help one reach one's goals.

    Hello!

You get a "Doctorate" which if EduQua-Certified. Which means, if I remember correctly the discussions from another thread, precisely nothing.

    Best regards,
    Mac Juli

I created this post as a "place holder" or something along those lines, as this institution may follow what Charisma University has done - seek ACBSP programmatic or secondary accreditation and then seek country specific -"RA equivalent"- accreditation. Anyways, as I mentioned in my post, this is something I won't be getting even after they've received ACBSP, until they get that "RA equivalency", it's just here for me to check up on when or IF that time comes...

What's the experience like with Upgrad?

The primary purpose of Doctorate for teaching, a degree from SSBM Geneva does not serve that purpose. I once joined the DBA program at SMC University, another Swiss Business School without accreditation except for ACBSP. I dropped out after a course because I found many negative comments about postgraduates.

RE: SMC, you're saying you saw too many negative comments about graduates of the program you were in?

...the truth about SMC is even worse... :)

Just in case anyone was wondering: SMC is blacklisted at WES.

SMC offers state-recognized from Malta, which is part of the EU. Seems acceptable to me.

Well, that is a difficult one. Malta is part of the EU, and these degrees are likely acceptable in the EU for these reasons. But Malta is hardly a model country for transparency or competent academic oversight; and SMC University is certainly not the best university I ever attended.

But not to WES, so that is definitely a point of concern.

The criteria for recognition is that the school is recognized by the government where the school is registered. If the school is Swiss, it should be recognized by Switzerland. T

Usually, if the university is included in the database below, it would be accepted as recognized
    http://www.univcheck.org/

The school in question is not in the database so most likely would not be recognized.

The word doctor comes from the Latin word for "teacher," itself from docēre, meaning "to teach." While this may have been the initial purpose, I doubt that's true today. There are so many professional doctorates available today. The truth is that most people with a doctorate will never get a full-time teaching job.

I have never heard of this database. And the very first sentence of their About Us is wrong.

The internet has changed the meaning of the doctorate. I am not sure about the ROI of the SSBM doctorate. I completed mine from an accredited Australian University 12 years ago and have been working in academia since 2010. I calculated my salary before and after doctorate and it is very close discounting inflation but with the advantage that I have a more flexible job.
My take is that at some point, people will not longer seek for doctorates from low profile institutions even if 11k. It is 11k that you can put towards your mortgage or a family vacation.
I always look for linkedin profiles with the degree of my interest to see its potential value. If you search for profiles with a DBA from SSBM, you would notice that a great amount of students and holders are adjunct faculty looking to better their prospects.

UnivCheck agregates data from all known authoritative sources, white lists and black lists, including ERIC NARIC, CHEA, IAU, INQAAHE, etc.

It is an aggregate of all the databases cited above.
