Okay...Bennet is suddenly having much to do with Bibi so maybe Netanyahu has yet one more bunny in the top hat.
With Bennet taking many ministerial places the left camp has 59 so 2 short. Bibi said today . "Therefore, I call on Bezalel Smutritz, Naftali Bennett and Gideon Saar. All the considerations aside and let's establish the right-wing and national government that the State of Israel so desperately need. Saar who was in right wing Likud all of his political life and left, holds the key at this time.
New combinations and deals. It appears Bibi will not be able to form government. Now there is a talk and a vote for possibility of Bennet - Lapid government.
Indeed, and Lapid claims they can form a government within a week. Yet the right camp is not making this easy and may somehow cause 5th elections in Aug 2021. Some on the right are calling for Bibi to resign while others such as ultra-orthodox Shas supports only Bibi as a head of the right camp.
How wrong I was. The Palestinian Arabs have once again not missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Bibi will end up leading yet another right wing government because Israeli Jews will be scared to try anything else. Netanyahu didn't save his bacon; the Arabs saved it for him. And neither group can eat it!
You mean turkey bacon, I think the other kind is not kosher nor halal. The situation in Israel is bad like never before. They are dealing with possible civil war and Palestinian Gaza fighting. The damage is severe, line never before. 2 years without stable government demonstrates how unstable the state of Israel is. Iran and Hezbollah are watching.
"Turkey Bacon"? Or more likely "Lamb Bacon" the use of which term recently cost an Israeli restaurant its heksher. Anyway, it's all a bad mess.
Hamas possibly saved Bibi directly or indirectly, the centrist left coalition may not happen. Saar indicated he may join with Likud and be first in rotation as PM, but also Gans is not out of picture. He may stay and if I'm not mistaken he is suppose to assume PM rotation in September? But at this time Israel has a war on multiple fronts and daily casualties.
Weeeellll...looks like there's SOME KIND of government forming and just in time. https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/politics-and-diplomacy/lapid-tells-rivlin-new-government-ready-669937
Lapid and Bennett are promising to swear in the new government this Sunday. I will be interested to see whether the Attorney General has Bibi arrested Sunday night.
Bibi is going to be the opposition leader. The additional evidence in case 4000 recordings, emails and text messages of mr Yeshua with businesses and media etc was just ordered to be shared with the defense team that likely to request a delay. There was some speculation about the Jerusalem parade of Flags that Bibi supported but local police didn't approve. Hamas threatened retaliation and it may have caused delay in governments formation. The parade was postponed to next Friday.
Immediate future seems more as in to opposition. Later other possibilities exist. If I'm not mistaken Israeli law states that an Knesset Member may not be indicted on criminal charges and they may not be searched or arrested or subject to wiretapping. But in this case we will have indicted KM. Not sure how this will play out.
Oh, I think Netanyahu will be subject to prosecution whether he keeps his seat or not. The alleged offenses relate to his official activities.
He is being prosecuted the trial is on going. While new government is about to be sworn coming Sunday there are no signs of Bibi vacating PM residency on Balfour, there are no removal trucks. There has been no speech acknowledging defeat. And of course, there has been no contact whatsoever with incoming prime minister Bennett, or anyone close to him. Maybe Bibi is counting on last minute success in blocking Bennett? Bibi has made a point of looking like he is continuing to do his job, as if this coming weekend will not be his final few days at the prime minister’s official residence. Maybe Monday night’s leak of the coalition guidelines to Channel 12’s political analyst Amit Segal was proof that there is somebody within the new coalition who is working to sabotage it? Only after the agreements are signed, will the final appointments be revealed and there can be a few or one MK who may sabotage the whole deal. Bibi will leave no stone unturned ahead of Sunday night’s vote. Even the setting the voting for Sunday night and mot day was to buy some additional time.
