Just focus and make the time to do the work. Dr. Hammond who is the dean of the program and one of your professors you will see at least once every semester is very picky about a lot of things so like I've said before please master APA and business style writing. He only wants the facts and material that is supported by research and academic sources. No Fluff or BS in papers or case studies.

These were my major concerns with the program. If you're bringing in enough credits to hit 90 and learning how to write a paper for publication, I think that will satisfy many of the detractors. Not the right program for me at all (due to its length, and requiring synchronous classes, and because I'm not in the healthcare field lol) but I hope it works out for all of you!

I asked Dr. Hammond about the 90 credit requirement to graduate (my MBA is 48 credits, this is 36 credits = 84 credits). He told me not to worry about the minutiae of the requirements. He told me that I would graduate from the program in one year. How will I get to the 90 credit requirement in one year? Maybe I am just overthinking this.

Doctorates don't actually have to be 90 credits. I did some looking around recently (not for this program), where I learned a PhD at Kansas State requires 90 credit hours, at the University of Missouri 72 and 52 at the University of Georgia. So I think they might design it to be 90 but if you come up with less than that, not a big deal.

Well as Dean, he is the man! The DHA is referred to as a "professional doctorate." Like I said before, there is a lot of writing and many of us have been out of school for decades. A lot of talent with experience in industry bringing a wealth of experience with age of students from mid thirties to 60s. I have definitely had to come up to speed on APA style and business writing of memorandums and executive summaries. PM me, if any questions.

Sorry, I wish I was qualified to comment about institutional graduation requirements or accreditation matters, but I'm not. My only comment would be, if you get accepted then the school has to provide a pathway to graduate.

You are all amazing. I appreciate all the feedback. Guess that I am just a little anxious thinking about going back to school after three years. The MBA that I did took so much of my time and energy to complete. I am sure that everything will be fine.

    Thank you guys!

How is everyone doing in their classes? May 4 is coming quick - getting a little nervous. Finding out how others are doing will hopefully ease my nervousness.

    Have a great week!

Hello Everyone and Happy July 4th weekend!

I just wanted to post a few items that may be of interest.

    1. For those with less than 90 graduate credits (DHA 36 plus transfer = 90), externships are available in increments of 1 credit per 40 hours of supervised externship at a healthcare organization. It requires a journal, timesheet and evaluation from the preceptor. The program is a FULLTIME program and from my personal experience on the amount of work involved, I would be surprised if someone can handle more than 4 credits of externship in a semester, which is 160 supervised hours of work. With that said, my understanding is that it can be accomplished at your place of work but in a different department. Many of us hold two or more graduate degrees so credits aren't an issue. I for one would like to take an externship to boost my CV but find the course load too intensive to take on another credit. I've heard of some interested in extending their program an extra semester to earn those additional credits.
    2. Additional faculty. The faculty are awesome and they have hired additional highly qualified doctoral degree holders. We get personalized attention and my experience has been excellent. Like I said previously, the program is intense with cohort teams working together to accomplish projects.
    3. The research project is a review of the literature composed by a cohort of 5 members (authors).
    4. Hint: Save all your previous coursework as you will be referring to it in future classes.

In conclusion, I am so honored to be part of this University. Make no mistake, the program is rigorous and requires maximum effort to succeed. I hope this was helpful.

The program uses Havard Business Review articles, prior to the start of your classes (usually 3-4 days before your class) each class will post a link in the syllabus to buy the bundle of articles for your course. can range from $25-55 dollars per class.

So as the first cohort gets ready to graduate next week I must say the doctoral regalia looks amazing. Congrats to the first cohort aka the Fall inaugural cohort. I am a part of the second inaugural cohort (Spring). doctoral gown.jpg

Curious if veterans could wear additional regalia from the branch they served?

Does the big yellow smiley come with the regalia or did they buy that from the smile store? :)

Here is a copy of someone’s doctoral degree granted on Saturday. All graduates in attendance at the graduation ceremony got their diplomas at the graduation. I blacked out the name for privacy issues.

Where do I start? I'll start with a big thank you to everyone at Degree Info for mentioning this program. The commencement exercise was outstanding! The campus is small but beautiful as it sits on top of Seminary Hill in Lynchburg, VA. I counted 184 graduates on the commencement brochure and at least half of those were present. The graduates came from all programs including associates, bachelors, masters, doctorates in healthcare administration and ministry. I am so honored and proud to be a graduate of this beautiful HBCU. We had great weather, great speakers, great singers, great evangelists, great prayers, great graduates, great faculty, and great refreshments served by some of the Dragon football team. Congratulations everyone!

For those interested in the DHA program, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality and the commitment of the faculty to see you succeed.
