The creepy golden Trump statue itself demonstrates the level of worship involved in this cult of personality thing. Perhaps even a better example of how far this Trump worship thing can go is the whole QAnon movement.

The highlight of my news week was how devastated the QAnon Shaman was when he realized that Trump was not going to pardon him before he left office. The QAnon Shaman was arrested for the January 6 insurrection. He's the fellow with the bare chest, painted face and horns on his head. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_Angeli

Well, the Shaman guy and the others were wrong in attacking the capitol on Jan 6th, just like in Oregon the Antifa is wrong in attacking and vandalism in Portland and the similar in Seattle.
But they abused the peaceful protest and acted against the calling by Ex President Trump for non violent protest.
For majority of Republicans the attack was gross law violation but Trump was pro law and order and was cleared in impeachment trial.
The fact that Trump is still influential over GOP and may have influence on 2022 elections in one way or another is what prompts attacking trump.
But time will show as things are changing within GOP. I see today number of groups in GOP:
Group # 1 - fully devoted to trump, # 2 not fully but devoted to Trump, 3 never Trumpists, and group#4 interesting new group The Biden Republicans. (Just like there were Regain Democrats)
I think the majority today is group # 2.
In the next few years we will see how the issues that are important for the republicans will be affected. (Immigration, Healthcare, Taxes and many others).
We will see how the nation will "judge" the successes and failures of current administration.

Yeah, building a statue (a cartoonish one in a coat and tie, swim trunks, a wand, and sandals no less?!) to make a buck shows such a high level of ....... worship .

Getting your photo taken next to some statue makes you some fanatical idolator? C'mon, ground yourself a bit, you might feel better. Heck, might even start to make some sense.

Good example of whataboutism, but yes, Obama idolatry is just as misplaced.

Hmmm, I'm surprised you see those as idolatry. Appears my definition of idolatry and worship are quite different.

Looks like our definitions of whataboutism don't line up, either. To me an element of it is bringing up the opposition's hypocrisy, and I didn't. I was actually looking for a photo of people standing next to a statue of Mickey Mouse and was surprised to not find any, so I went with a nice Obama one : )

Hey, now, let's leave Mickey out of this. He's a survivor from the Greatest Generation after all. Show some respect!

I wonder if the Golden Trump will be offered on ebay?

The reporting I heard was that there are two of the statues. The one at CPAC was fiberglass but the other one was supposed to be gold plated. This was just the report from the artist not any pictures were provided. The artist was hoping that the Donald Trump Presidential library would buy the gold plated statue. Perhaps at least one of the statues will be offered on ebay. I personally question if the gold plated one has been made. Maybe the reporting I saw just said it was planned. I can't remember for sure.

Donald Trump probably won't ever build a presidential library though. It would be tantamount to admitting that he is not currently president.

I researched the statue a little bit. The statue we see pictures of is said to be a fiberglass cast of a stainless steel statue. The fiberglass statue was made in China. It was said to be marked for sale at CPAC for $100,000. There were a lot more articles about the statue but I got bored so that's all that I read.
