The voting machine companies and others are suing over lies about voter fraud and machine hacking. I wonder if the CPAC people are aware that they could be held liable for Mr Trump's statements on the subject (if he makes any)?

I wonder if any of them would have the spine necessary to protect CPAC from such a lawsuit by saying that the claims of Dominion machines being hacked has been debunked many times? I would find it it extremely amusing if someone did that.

BTW the My Pillow guy is being sued for over a billion dollars. The Dominion suit claims that he is making money at their expense because Trump supporters buy his pillows to support his false claims.

If you haven read it yet or seen the viral pictures of it, check out the opening of the lawsuit!

Mr Trump is becoming ever more toxic. Just having him around can be financially and politically dangerous. But Senator Romney is right; if the primaries for 2024 President were held today, Donald Trump would walk away with the GOP nomination. Not a good place for the party I don't think.

The GOP is in a very bad place. Unfortunately, that puts the whole country in a bad place. Even more unfortunately we can't blame it all on Trump. I believe the issue goes deeper into the right leaning media harbouring of conspiracy theories and fostering that kind of nonsense instead of reporting the truth. Thank goodness that Dominion is fighting back. At least that little bit of truth may get through to some?

It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Don't get your hopes up. It will probably play out like the vast majority of all civil cases. That is the case will be settled out of court and the details of the settlement will be sealed. The only thing the public is likely to see is that the My Pillow guy will stop telling all the stupid lies about about Dominion voting machines.

That's what I'm thinking. Settlement, sealed, he stops talking about it. Maybe some mildly interesting tidbits during discovery, if it even gets that far.

Moses slew one third of the Israelites for Golden Calf worship. Just sayin'.

I'm not as versed in scripture. Did the golden calf try to run for leader again four years later and if it did, I hope it lost even worse? Just askin'.

No, not four years later, anyway. You see, thy God is a jealous Swamp, and if the wrath of the Lord thy Swamp be kindled against thee, It would take thee away from the face of the earth. So the priesthood (FakeNews and BigTech) kept most everybody in check. When it came time to slaughter the opposition and take their land, well, that's just what they did. It continues to this day, with notable exceptions.

From my perspective, the last four years was the same swamp, just with dumber alligators. Not sure how to fit that into a religious metaphor, though.

These cult of personality things are creepy.

My parents followed a religious cult leader for a few years when I was a kid. My folks were Mormon and this guy was one of the many fundamentalist Mormon polygamy cult leaders that were and still are around. He was a weirdo. Some ways more and some ways less weird than Trump. My sister wrote a fictional book but based on that period of our family and her life. https://smile.amazon.com/Plural-Bride-Be-Cheryl-Vaught-ebook/dp/B07CZQT5Q8/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=cheryl+vaught&qid=1614640047&s=books&sr=1-1 It's actually an excellent entertaining read. I highly recommend it.

What's that little Glenda the Good Witch wand about? Wishful thinking?

A cult of personality, at least from my personal experience, is not as much about the overwhelming power of the leader. It's more about the overpowering desire of the followers to believe in the power of the leader. Lerner would obliquely mention this fact. He would say for example, "People are not blindly following Trump, they just like what he says." So the wand is really an expression of the desire of the Trump cultist followers to believe in Trump's "magic". So, yes, it is really mostly wishful thinking.

I don't think Mike Lindell is actually capable of shutting up and not telling stupid lies. The man has quite a few regulatory actions because he doesn't do well with scripts and seemingly can't help himself from claiming his pillows cure diseases whenever he gets on TV. The big difference here is that he can hide behind his company when it comes to the FTC. For his voting machine accusations he is on his own and even if he settles if he then goes out and does the same thing, he'll be in for a world of financial hurt.
