....the Supreme Court took on Trump's case and awarded him the relief he seeks? Not just what would ensue electorally. (That would likely throw the election to the House, where Trump would be re-elected.) What would happen in our nation?
Well, I live in Michigan. I would view this as an act of war and I would stop working and look for a building to storm. I think that the Supreme Court would be a good place to start, but just to start.
Interesting. I don't know of a way for Congress to undo it, but Dems sure would give it the ole college try. Several states would begin a serious push towards secession. My hope is this time the feds wouldn't start a war over it. Riots certainly, on a MUCH bigger scale than we've seen here in our lifetimes. National guard being called out to put down the rioters with lethal force. On a personal level, it might get ugly enough that my wife would be on board with our packing up and shipping out a lot earlier than scheduled.
Not gonna happen! Supreme Court rejects Texas' and Trump's bid to overturn election https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/11/politics/supreme-court-texas-trump-biden/index.html
...seriously, I was even afraid of another Civil War; and I don't think I was alone with this. Alas, it still can happen.
Trump could do a lot for the GOP by dropping this election nonsense and getting behind democracy, saying that the Republican Party has to improve, etc. You know, forward-looking, optimistic, supportive of his party. But he isn't any of that. So...no.
What if the election machines were hacked? After all possibly Russians are behind 8 month hacking in to our agencies. Pentagon, HLS, NSA etc etc, and the Postal Service, Financial agencies as well.
I'm not saying Russians cracking into U.S. servers isn't a problem (or cyberespionage in general no matter who does it). It is. But that sort of thing doesn't mean one can magically accomplish anything, like you'd see on 24.
I think, ever since the last one in the 1860s, there has always been the odd American, at some points quite a few, in home-built bunkers, cleaning and oiling large firearms collections, counting canned goods and preparing for the Final Conflict. The mindset - including the pleasure taken in anticipation, pride in preparation and certainty of conflict - upsets me more than the actual possibility. Scary dudes, a lot of them. Let's hope they're wrong - again and always.
Yep - met only a handful, thankfully. Had the outlook, speech and owned the firepower. Not sure about proper bunkers at all, though. I'm not well-travelled in US - only bin ta 3 states - NY PA and Ohio. Maybe if I wandered further off the beaten track or in other areas I'd have found more. Not enthusiastic about that prospect. Wasn't exactly looking for them, in the first place. Read lots of talk on the Net too - but that don't mean a thing. umm...does it?
I suppose I might fall into that camp, sort of. - We keep a stocked pantry with spreadsheets and rotation calendar. - Before leaving the country a while back we had a decent supply of firearms with mags and ammo. You have to clean them whether or not you use them, and you better be using them. I got rid of nearly all before we left the uSA, but since we've been back I picked up just a few more. - Also have generators, fuel, tools, etc. A vegetable garden is always going, and we have chickens. Would have more, but we like to travel and don't want the burden of handing off animals all the time. - I am little bit of a metal bug.... gold and silver. The really serious people spend a good deal of time building like-minded communities. Our household is well-prepared for so many things, and I am glad of it. We are NOT prepared for the absolute worst things. Certainty of conflict? Yes, I am quite certain there will be widespread, violent conflict. Timeline? No idea. Pleasure in anticipation? No. The worst scenarios are horrifying. For many folks, though, there is only so much you can take before you have to strike. This is nothing new, history rhymes.
Just like the COVID 19 pandemic hit us we never know whats coming next. Hospitals at the brink as states brace for surge in COVID-19 deaths. Mother nature may have a few new surprises. I don't want to be the predictor of doom and gloom and hope there is blessing, health and prosperity.
