I received an email from edX with the following cryptic message:

"A movement is in motion. It’s been gaining momentum since we first opened our classroom to the world in 2012. You’re one of 35 million learners who have joined it. You’ve taken courses, learned new skills, and earned credentials. You’ve changed your careers, your lives, and the world in countless ways.

But, we’re just getting started. We want to keep pushing further. We want to keep changing the world together. That’s why changes are on the horizon. Changes that don't alter who we are, but reflect our refusal to stand still. Stay tuned to find out what’s next."

So, it appears that change is coming.

edX University, perhaps? Or something even more original, like University of edX? :)

Perhaps a new Dean of all their MicroMasters programs. -- Someone less than four feet tall. An experienced micro-manager. :)

I really hope they will become an accredited 4 year online university!
and I hope they will give use real college credits for taking their online courses.
They don't necessarily need to award a degree but they can give us a transcript so that we can transfer their credits to other institutions.

If they really want to help poor students, they can try to give us an associate's degree. An associate's degree in Applied Arts and Sciences will be perfect.

Yes it would. Let's hope they don't come up with yet another fistful of BUSINESS degrees. You already need a Master's in Python-driven AI just to sort through that pile!

EDX is already on the certificates next to Harvard U, MIT, etc.
I think one of the reasons people are attracted to edX is that the classes are from name recognized universities.

Africa Nazarene University students seem to be getting college credits for taking Cousera courses (COVID arrangement).

The the edX's new name should be: Harvard Institute of Massachusetts University (HIMU) or Harvard Massachusetts Institute & University (HMIU)

Maybe they can buy Penn Foster and rename it MIT Global?

If their aim was to make their branding more bland, more generic and less recognizable, then kudos to them on the fine job they've done.

It looks like the kind of site you accidentally open when you mispell degreeinfo.

Not to pile on... well, yes to pile on... but there's an excellent brand management course on Coursera that I think the edX marketing team should consider taking. :D

Ok, that's enough hypercriticism for one post, I'm sure.

...or Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Harvard University (MITHU).

    Hello!

I thought that they would try to issue their own degrees. I don't think that it would be that far-fetched. Arden University UK started as a "broker" for online degrees and not they run the show themselves. But the design change is ... well, I would not consider it an epic fail, but it is completely useless.

    Best regards,

Man, they should become a fully accredited online university like WGU so they can give RA credits for taking their courses.
Too bad their awesome courses will not worth any credit.

So, Ellis University the same thing, originally Ellis College of New York Institute of Technology. Then Ellis University to John Hancock University back to Ellis University to defunct.

Yes, it's a pity. But sometimes, their courses are indeed worth credit (but they are not a bargain at $166/cr). Have a look here: https://www.edx.org/microbachelors.
