I haven't seen anything that shocked me. I've read about some Twatter statements that were wild. Some saber-rattling. There have been some things I wanted to learn more about, but the only results I could easily dig up were CNN, MSDNC, NYT, Puffington, Fox, etc. and I won't dig through their sensationalist puke to get what nuggets might actually be in there (I have tried many times).

In the end, I've always seen DJT as a big-government, moderate Democrat. I never heard anything from him that led me to believe he would actually do anything I would want a pol to do. His ENEMIES consist largely of the kind of people I despise, so that was good I suppose, but that doesn't go very far. I wasn't stateside for a couple of years and just didn't hear much about uS politics for that time.

Have you guys been pretty heavy on here with the Trump stuff for 4 years, or is it something that has mostly come up in the last year?

*I find it incredulous that this thread has grown to 31 pages thus far and over 600 posts (as have a few other political threads). My total contribution to this thread was a two-word post on the second page - most of the other contributors could come under a list of what was called "the usual suspects" in Cassablanca. The only questions I have are (1) when are y'all going to get a life, and (2) do you really think that most people give a shit about what you think about these things, or that your opinions will have any impact on these issues?

If this forum has gone down the tubes as the primary resource in distance education, the fault belongs to every regular participant in this thread, regardless of their political leanings.

In short, you're all pathetic. Except, of course, for me. :D

I was trying to explain something to my youngest son once, when he was about 4 years old. I asked him, "Do you think that's true?". He thought about it for a few seconds, looked up at me, and said- "Don't know....... Don't care."

    Current status:
Because of large partisan gaps things are taking what appears a dangerous turn.

President Trump responded on Twitter late Friday, “The Supreme Court really let us down," but he vowed to “fight on!”
Shortly after the Supreme Court ruling on Friday, Allen West, the chairman of the Texas Republican Party, all but called for states to secede.
“Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution,” West wrote.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll out this week, 77% of Republicans believe there was widespread fraud in the November election and about 60% say they consider Biden's victory illegitimate.

Judge Elsenheimer’s order allowing Nessel and Benson to prohibit the disclosure of the forensic results of 22 Dominion systems.
Patrick Colbeck, an election challenger from Wayne County stated:
“All of these people who are saying there was no election fraud are going deliberately out of their way to, filing court orders to prevent the dissemination of evidence of election fraud,”

Due to the efforts and lawsuits and publicity of the disputes, millions of Americans will likely remain convinced Biden’s victory was illegitimate and the election was fraudulent.

Monday's formal voting of the Electoral College, a milestone some Republicans have suggested they are waiting on before recognizing Biden's victory.

Naw. Texas tried that secession thing once before. Didn’t turn out so good.

It's a gorgeous day here in Arizona. The sun is out, there is a crisp feeling to the air (even though it will be 75 degrees later). And snowflakes are melting everywhere, even ones you can't see. (But you sure can hear them.) Melting....

In the modern era it would be squelched long before an actual civil war could start. Meaning that the law enforcement agencies would handle it before it even got to the military. And if it did get to the military it would have to be a gorilla war because not even automatic weapons do very well against tanks, choppers, drones, and jet fighters.

No body thinks this will get that far.
Whats next military take over the whole union? No way.
    This if for the movies.
I think after Monday things will start calming down and the GOP focus on next elections.

For the Dem's is now to hold the Centrists, Biden may be under scrutiny again with the federal investigation of Hunter. The left media and social networks censorship of this federal investigation was discussed, they didn't want to interfere with election or did they?
But he can issue presidential pardon for his son if needed.

I don't know how it could be done geographically, but I would be in favor of shaking away the "red" welfare states. Of the 10 states who draw the most from the federal government compared to what they kick in, 9 are reliably "red." (The 10th, New Mexico, has a huge indigenous population and draws a lot of federal funding for it.)

You know, "takers" instead of "makers."

There would be quite a few "red" states that would want to stay in the Union.

But none of that is going to happen.

Instead, we'll have this continuing "cold" civil war. They demographics (especially in terms of education, race, and income) are staggering.

We don't really know anything about it. It might be substantive, or it just might be an 11th hour witch hunt. It's not hard to target someone for investigation, and it doesn't really say much.

All that is official it's tax related.
    The rest is speculation.

If Hunter Biden is charged with a crime, it would be unacceptable (to me) for President Biden to pardon him. If he did something like that then he should be impeached and removed from office. That is not what the pardon power is for, to "protect" friends and family. Not even the criminal Richard Nixon would stoop that low. (As Trump already has.)

Yes. I'm not interested in any pre-emptive pardons, no matter who the recipient. Pardons are a form of forgiveness. That means the person should have had their case(s) adjudicated, served whatever sentence and/or paid whatever fine, then have atoned for his/her crime by being a good citizen for some time afterwards.

Even then, it can be dicey. Roger Clinton is a good example. Bill Clinton's half-brother, he had drug-related convictions, but had served his sentence. Bill Clinton pardoned him on his way out in 2001. Roger has had legal troubles since then.

But a pre-emptive pardon. No. Just no. Trump has done this--or pardoned people right after their convictions--too many times. I would not want Biden to follow that example.

Republicans bring it up because (a) it's something Trump would certainly do (and has) and (b) they assume everyone shares those "values." No.

Trump and his minions have EDS: Election Derangement Syndrome. They just cannot get over the fact that Biden won, so they're filled with rage and hate.

    Sound familiar?

I agree, TDS is just a stupid troll that has no real meaning. I might like LDS Loser Derangement Syndrome better though, as maybe being more of a troll?
