I've watched Jeopardy! with my mom since I was a kid. I know he fought hard to beat cancer, and it's sad to see him go.

Very sad indeed. One of my favorite people. His show was a great (and free) source of remote learning, way before the Internet became so popular.
I hope he's now giving answers and asking for questions in a pleasant corner of the Afterlife. Rest in Peace, Alex. You've earned it.

A common and welcomed guest in our living room and other rooms for decades. Will be missed.

Sad indeed. I think my appearance on Jeopardy was one of the high spots of my life, despite the final scores. Now, who will be next? Ken Jennings, perhaps?

I hope not, John. Ken Jennings is 46 years old, according to "Rabbi Wiki" (Thanks, nosborne48). Nothing there indicates he's sick. He and his wife have two children in their teens. I guess he must have been 29 or 30 when he had his first streak on Jeopardy.

May ALL Jeopardy contestants live a long time, yet! :)

I can only remember one occasion when Ken Jennings didn't have the right question and I (watching at home) did - it was something about garden tools. Not surprising - about the only subject on earth I could have beaten him at.... :)

Um . . . I interpreted John's comment to mean that Ken would be the next host. Not the next to die.

Ken might be a good choice, and they seem to be trying him out lately by having him provide answers. But don't rule out Levar Burton, who has experience as a game show emcee.

What I'm not hearing is any rumbling about bringing in a major star.

Count me among those wanting LeVar Burton!!!!!!!!

I'd love it if they chose LeVar Burton!

Duh! Absolutely right, Steve. I've been out of the Jeopardy loop for so long (no TV at all for years) I had no idea who was in the running for next host.

    Apologies to all --- again.

I saw a tabloid headline that said it would be Matthew McConnaughey.

I wouldn't want to see LeVar Burton or MM. Alex could be crusty at times, and a bit of a square. I liked that.

You know, I'd kinda like to see some unknown 55-year-old spinster cat lady host now and then. Gotta put in the contract, though, that they can't push universal/whole life o_O
