Oh yes. I sincerely hope it will be a *happy* day for the American people. From my point of view, the USA has seldom been so divided since 1865...

Oh, I don't know about that. The 2000 election was much closer than the 2016 election was, and the 2020 election looks to be even more disparate in its results.

I think the divide comes from a huge difference between the will of the people and the election results they get due to the very un-democratic Electoral College, the Senate, and even the House (with so many gerrymandered districts). The will of the people is too often thwarted. Even in this election, the only way one side can win is due to decidedly un-democratic methods. The outcome of the popular vote is not at all in doubt by either side. This creates the feeling of divide: the difference between the will of the people and the outcomes they receive when expressing that will.

Very close so far, Biden is leading at this time 19:21 here 11/04/2020.
Trump in a day or so may be in 260s
    Or Biden 270.
Depends on winch results one is following.
I'm watching ABC and FOX, in the remaining uncalled states AZ, AL, NV, GA, NC, PA both candidates are very close to each other.
I hear some recounts are requested in some states.
Hope its not multiple 2000 Floridas.

Why are they suing? Is there fraud happening?
In 2000 the court had to decide.
I heard in the news that some 100K ballots all with Biden name some how appeared, I don't know if this is true or not, or one of the states has significantly more people voted way above the number of registered voters etc.
If there are irregularities on both sides let the competent authorities handle this.

    (1) Read the article - or quite a few others.
    (2) I don't think so. Wouldn't put it past anyone, though.

Fraud and mass deceit seems to be an indispensable governing principle in all of North America and many other countries. AFAIK it always has been, despite the intentions of good people, should any be present. Just another day in the neighborhood...

If Biden wins - I'll be happy. If Biden wins AND Trump hands over quietly AND there's little or no rioting, arson, shooting and looting etc. - I'll be ECSTATIC.

If ANYBODY wins and there's little or no rioting etc. - I'll be satisfied, at least.

It appears that Trump is just suing to sue. To cause chaos? To provide an excuse for losing? Just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks? Who knows? Note that there are valid reasons for suing but he's apparently going to be filing lawsuits when they don't make sense. For example, suing in Michigan to stop the vote counting when he's currently behind in the count makes no sense.

I was supper busy at work today so I'm really behind on the news developments.
Most likely Biden wins this election but its not over till all the valid votes are counted.
As I thought this would be a very close elections and when % are so close some may trigger automatic recount in red or blue states.
    Lets see what tomorrow brings.
BTW CNN yesterday and this morning appeared to have very balanced coverage and more conservative then Fox this time.
Didn't have time during the day to check.
    I also liked ABC.

This long drawn out counting is doing some serious harm to the country. I bank online. Why don't I vote online?

As for division of the country, I remember the 60s. THAT was division. Now, we are divided basically over nothing.

    Hello!

Some guy - it was the former German Ambassador in the US - said in the German TV news two days ago that the US are more than their president. Besides the president, there are the governors, the mayors, the companies, and, of course, the people.
    Wise words.

    Best regards,
    Mac Juli
