Lerner, let me know what you think about this quote:

No, America didn't live up to it's founding idea of "liberty and justice for all". It at least tries, and is therefore the greatest nation on Earth, but it tries precisely because of the sentiment Biden is trying to convey here, and DESPITE the very anti-American Jingoism sentiment which tries to censor true patriots (like your anonymous quote tries to do)

Then maybe this would have been a better add: “America is an idea and we’re falling short. We can do better.”

Instead, his ad sounds like he is plotting to walk away from the founding principles of America.
So, in a nutshell, it appears that Biden’s campaign is based on the idea of walking away from our founding. That is the endgame.
That’s how I have to interpret this.
It appears Biden does not explain what his alternative is.
We’re leaving it up to the American people to assume they know what the alternative is.
Do they know the alternative is Marxism?

When I don't quote soars, it usually to show that this source is better expressing what I think.
And all you have to do is to paste it in google to see it so why to bother.
Because it deflects from what I want to say and since this is not an academic paper you know.

Good thing it isn't - or you might have failed, for plagiarism. Lerner, the only reason I made the post is to show it wasn't exactly an "anonymous quote" as Stanislav opined. He probably knew that already.

I hate Karl Marx as much as you do. He put his own family through many years of hell - including starvation, for his "principles." He refused offers of well-paid work for years, for these "principles." He even rejected financial assistance from wealthy friends. Things got so bad that at least one of his children STARVED TO DEATH. A human being does not allow that to happen.

But I refuse to let him be a bogeyman for Biden-haters to use. That's no more valid than the Medieval Church's depiction of Hell - with flames to scare credulous parishioners into line. I think the late Pope John Paul II wrote that those images should not be used today. I feel the same way about Marx. His villainy should be remembered. But he's not coming back. He is not an alternative.

Included in the "idea" of America was the permission of the people to push back against it, protest it and change it.

What has disappointed me lately is how frequently and how loudly we've been hearing the cry that America shouldn't be changed, but entirely dismantled and replaced with something much less permissive of push back, protest and change.

Change can be good or evil.
It all depends on what kind of change?
America did change. We had a civil war, Slavery abolished, World wars, civil rights movements, and a lot of cultural changes.
But also when Hitler came to power, Italy when Mussolini came to power, and the Soviet Union when Lenin, Stalin, etc came to power, Frech revolution.
They all killed the revolutionaries or sent them to gulags etc. In the end, usually, criminals took over.
And our enemies, rivals if not enemies who would like to see our economy suppressed. When Foreign countries like China buying access to the highest leaders of the land and what to own America.

So we need to understand what is meant and what type of change is being preached and fought for.
Yes, there are very important issues that divide people. Abortion, women's right to choose to kill abort a fetus an unborn child.
Healthcare, Police, Immigration, and many other important issues.
Automation and replacement of human workers by technology.
    Global climate change.

I agree that the issue at the heart is forces that want America entirely dismantled and replaced.

Those forces are primarily external not internal. The external forces are things like Putin and China. Internal forces like the Republican party or the Democratic party do not fall into this category. To think otherwise is irrational. We have a President that is divisive because he pushes this idea that the Democratic party wants to destroy our way of life. He does this to goad his believers into fear and more fervent support, to push them further right. These are the actions of a cult leader not a constructive leader of a country.

He says this all the time.
There is nothing he can do to satisfy Limbaughs of the world. Demanding it is disingenuous.

I think External forces are buying internal forces, this is something that's been done for thousands of years.
China owns some internal forces here. (Business-wise) that will promote Chinese interests here.
Same for other companies (state-run or semi state-run) to secure business here or suppress business here as their interest is not US national interest, and this is also for Russians, Ukrainians, and others.
I think our great agencies keeping an eye on who is infiltrating and controlling different groups.
Like Iran behind supposed “Proud Boys” voter-intimidation emails.
I think they are also involved with BLM.

Sadly, it does want to destroy our way of life.

Did America not live up to it when the Civil War was fought and won and slavery was ended?

No, it did not. Jim Crow laws continued for another century, and things still aren't in balance. But as noted above, the quest continues.

That would be bad. Who is saying that?

This kind of thinking is just a small step away from thinking that you have to execute a governor of Michigan.

You are the one that apparently believes that Democrats are out to destroy our way of life. What does that mean? That our way of life needs to be protected?

Or instead is your argument that destroying our way of life is a good thing? So are you saying that you think our way of life should sadly be destroyed? Which I disagree with.

Or are you saying that you don't think our way of life should be protected from people trying to destroy it because you sadly just don't care either way?

Off the top of my head, various groups with various motives. Antifa. BLM. Justice Democrats. The Nation of Islam. The 18% of Texans who want to secede. The "residents" of CHAZ who imagined that they had seceded.

Most of these are new or new-ish, but I threw in a couple of classics just to mix it up. I'm not sure how much time you spend on YouTube or Twitter (hopefully much less time than I do...) but calls to burn the constitution, allow illegal immigrants to vote in elections and abolish the police are terrifyingly common, said in all seriousness, and met with wide support.
