I came across this among a listing of least expensive MBAs.

    https://online.tamucc.edu/programs/master-business-administration.aspx

Of course, MBAs are a dime a dozen at this point, but this one stood out to me as a good find. It's somewhat different from your run-of-the-mill program, and has not been discussed on this board before. The posted price is $12,387.70, but it has a footnote that reads "Program tuition based on recommended 3 credits per session. Tuition is on a sliding scale and may be reduced when enrolling in 6 credit hours per session."

    The high points:

    - AACSB acredited.

    - Among the least expensive MBAs out there.

    - 7-week courses.

    - Brand recognition. It may not be the College Station campus, but it is under the very well known and respected Texas A&M umbrella. I don't think too many employers would kick this school out of bed.

    PS, I'm considering it... :eek::rolleyes::D

The 7-week courses might be just what I need. It would be nice to be able to focus on just one course at a time, get some semesters off in-between if necessary, and still be able to finish on the time table I've laid out for myself.

I also wouldn't mind having "Texas A&M University" on my resume as opposed to "Obscure Directional State University". Not that I'm averse to the latter, but the former is certainly tempting.

Not bad, anything under 15K for an AACSB MBA would be pretty good. Tempting Really...
BTW, when did you do your AA and BA? I just noticed your signature.
I think the AACSB MBA would be slightly harder to get into than the ACBSP programs.

The BA was about 8 years ago.

I meet all of their admission requirements (except for 2/4 of their prerequisites, but I can take care of those easily), and even qualify for a GMAT waiver based on the last 60 of my undergrad. I look to be in pretty good shape, but wouldn't even mind taking the GMAT if I had to- I like tests, I tend to test very well, and am well above average in math ability.

I'm not worried about getting in. If I can't, I'll just try again after making some improvements to my qualifications or go to a plan B school.

I can take classes at TAMUCC for free... seriously considering this.

@Maniac Craniac - Oh, did you do the capstone for your BA Social Sciences?
I think that was the year they incorporated the capstone for the Bachelors.

@Stanislav - Really? And how did you get that?
Do you have family member working at TAMUCC?
Darn, I need to get myself some tuition assistance/reimbursement...

No, they implemented the capstone after I enrolled.

Last I checked, they don't even offer the Social Sciences major any more. I was lucky. I had gotten down to the wire due to life circumstances and poor planning and couldn't finish my original goal (BA double major in psych & soc and a second BS in business). I was able to salvage my credits by switching to Social Sciences, which counted all of my psych and soc credits, as well as the economics credits I had completed in anticipation of the business degree, towards the major.

I still wish I finished the BSBA when I had the chance to do it cheaply.

I wish they had it for family members, would be perfect for my wife...
*I* actually teach at TAMUCC full time now. Non-TT regular appointment. I started in Spring, and moved my family down here last month.

Very nice! I have a friend of mine working on his PhD in Computer Science at University of Colorado-Boulder, I believe. Are there typically a lot of faculty positions available in the field? I know quantitative fields “typically” have less candidates than qualitative fields.

Demand for CS faculty tends to fluctuate, a lot. Right now, the demand is quite strong.
