A university is offering scholarships for you to do absolutely nothing

A German university is soliciting submissions for just that, and three people will be awarded a $1,900 stipend.

On Wednesday, The University of Fine Arts in Hamburg announced a call for applications for their "Scholarships for Doing Nothing," between now and September 15.

    see website below for details.

    Hello!

From my last day job, I can tell with fervor that doing nothing is ... completely overrated. :)
    Won't apply.

    Best regards,
    Mac Juli

Wait, is that DBA a Spanish Doctorado? That is so cheap! I assume it's the doctorate version of the titulo propio.

I think so. Still, I want it but don't have the money :-(

    I dug a bit further.

"El alumno tiene la opción de solicitarla la obtención de la doble titulación que ofrece la prestigiosa Universidad de San Miguel." Means roughly:

You can get 2 diplomas - one from Campus Universitario Europeo and one from Universidad de San Miguel. Doesn't say if propio or not. I bet it is. After my nap, I might check. You can get same deal - same price on a PhD, so I doubt if either will get you anything like RA here, or what your local NARIC or equivalent might say in Europe.

To me, this is a funny-looking setup. And I hope "setup" isn't the operative word. They have ads for courses from housekeeping aide to PhD on the same page. Same format you expect of a low-buck non-degree correspondence / home study school.

I see more "red lights" here than I remember at a late 1800s Natchez, Mississippi house of ill repute... but for a different reason, of course.

Might still buy it though. As long as I can call myself doctor after the course, I couldn't care less about it's quality to be honest :-/

I just wanted to open a new topic for this fantastic DBA before I found out it has already been discussed here :D
It´s probably a titulo propio or a certificate. But still, Uni San Miguel is state-recognised!
It would be exactly the DBA program I´ve been looking for. Cheap, Online and more legitimate than illegitimate, meaning it contains a state-recognised institution from a developed country.
Perfect - if it wasn´t for this one thing: Spanish language. They offer it only in Spanish and not in English :(

By the way, this page www.emagister.com is fantastic, I haven´t yet found one website that is a dictionary for such a large amount of study programs. From mills to excellent schools, they´ve got it all.

I saw in the ad "No Dudes" so I figured it was for women only. Then I remembered - "no dudes" is "don't delay" in Spanish. :)

Another thing I didn't know. In the emagister pages, Universidad Claustro Gomez - mentioned previously, somewhere - shows a London, England address. Possibly just a service bureau for British applicants - I'm not really sure.

Some interesting and super-cheap offers, certainly. Not sure how they'd fare on either a NARIC or North American evaluation, though. Not that I'd need to care. Old age pensioners pretty well get a free pass on that - as long as we're not still maintaining a death-grip on employment. Thank G*d, I'm not. I don't want work to kill me --- let some jealous husband do that! Preferably with one quick bullet, when I'm 96 or older. :)

Likely, yes. I know this address - many letterbox companies have their, um, location there.

Funny you should mention. As a kid, I lived in London. Many years later in the 90s, the UDP (University Degree Program) scammers had a mail drop for one of their 30+ mills - "Palmers Green University" on the very same street where I'd lived -- about two blocks further down.

Funny what the Internet can do. I know my old boyhood home area far better now than I did when I lived there 60+ years ago. My old primary school has two websites, I have at least a hundred pictures from the net - of the parks I played in, pictures of my grandmother's house, my friends' houses, the hall where I went to cubs etc. There were 52 kids in my last class in England and I listed the names on a local chat forum. (This was about 1997.) Two or three of my 1952 classmates responded. None were still in Palmers Green. One was in Florida.

One of the best pics was of a house for sale on a street I knew well. This was early 2000s. Outside was a (then) 50+ year-old Morris Oxford! I thought for a minute nothing had changed since I left!

I was even able, around 2005, to read verbatim, on their website, the local Council's Demolition Permit for the house I lived in, from ages 4-9. (1947-1952). An apartment building is on the site now. The house was close to 100 years old by then. Times change.
