    Dear Community,

I am very happy to find this forum as I have been struggling for the past few weeks with all the information on the web, existent differences when it comes to the same program/degree and their accreditations, especially when it comes to colleges and graduate/royal schools. Universities are easier to find information on.

I am looking for a Bachelor's degree in Business Studies / Business Administration / International Business or Business Management (they all have very similar modules I'm interested in).

I am looking for a program conducted 100 % online, in english, accredited in UK / Europe (US is a plus) and also that they do accept credit transfer students.

After my research I found the following institutions that they provide such option and I just wanted to ask if you know that they are reliable/accredited and if you know of any other good ones that I did not list below:

    - Teesside University in Middlesbrough, UK (offering BA in Business & Enterprise Top Up)
    - London School of Planning & Management
    - HTL International School of Hospitality, Tourism & Languages in Valencia, Spain
    - SCPSU Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland (http://www.scpu-e-businessschool.com/index.html)
    - European University Cyprus - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - UBIS University in Geneva - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - International Business School The Hague, Netherlands
    - Webster University in Netherlands
    - GBSB Global Business School in Spain - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - GISMA Business School in Berlin - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - International Business Academy in Kolding, Denmark
    - Ducere in UK
    - Selinus University in Bologna, Italy -
NOT ACCREDITED as per my research
    - Alfred Nobel Open Business School in Switzerland
    - SSBM Swiss School of Business and Management in Geneva
    - London School of International Business Management
    - Horizons University in Paris
    - Institute of Technology SLIGO in Ireland
    - School of Business and Trade in Lucerne, Switzerland -
NOT ACCREDITED as per the forum
    - OUS Royal Academy of Economics and Technology in Zürich - NOT ACCREDITED as per the forum
    - Royal Business College in Serbia - (Can't find their website anymore)
    - Arden University in UK -
    ACCREDITED as per my research
    - University of London / London School of Economics & Politics - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - Schiller International University in Spain - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - The Open University in UK - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - EU Business School in Switzerland - ACCREDITED as per my research
    - Schellhammer Business School in Spain

Please do correct me if I put any incorrect information and if you have any recommendation regarding these.

I hope this post will also help other students who find themselves in similar situation and that we can all avoid loosing time and money.

Many many thanks for your time and help!!

Thank you but I wish you included prices too because at least for me, that is the most important factor

Hello Ali, it really depends because I have already completed 2 years of Bachelor's so the prices they provide me it depends on how many credits they transferred. Sometimes they offer me to complete the degree in one semester so that is not applicable to everyone.
I took weeks to put together this list, by making phone calls and online research. If you are really interested, I suggest you go on their website under tuition fee or you give them a call. Accreditation is something very important that many times it's not transparent and more difficult to find information on.

I'd stay away from Horizons University in Paris, regardless of the fact that their business programs are ACBSP accredited because the school itself does not appear to be accredited in the sense that we understand it (maybe no sense at all, lol), and I don't feel great about Schiller International University as I have not heard great things, at least one member mentioned pricing and it was way too high for what the school offered.

True enough. Some campuses / programs of Schiller have ACICS (U.S.) accreditation. That's not useful for UK use. UK-NARIC will only evaluate US degrees from schools accredited by the "Big 6" (The accreditors formerly known as "Regional.") Employers, schools of further study etc. can disregard this and make up their own minds in individual cases. But only if they want to. Some Schiller degrees are awarded and accredited (yes, that's what it says) by Roehampton U. - London. I don't know if the diploma says "Roehampton" on it. If I wanted a Roehampton degree, I'd go to Roehampton. That's just me, I guess.

As far as Horizons goes - Yes. What Learning Addict said. We've had a thread that took 7 pages to confirm (again and again) that the degrees, though legal, did not have State Recognition, as do those of mainstream French schools. ACBSP program approval does not mean State Recognition of degrees; neither does ASIC (UK) accreditation. If you have a lot of time and nothing else on your plate, it's here. Complete with statements by the founder. https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/horizons-university.41117/

Thank You very much! That's already another step further. What about the rest?
International Business School The Hague in Netherlands and International Business Academy in Kolding in Denmark for example?
They seem to be professional and affordable. Where can I verify the accreditation? I can not find any topics on these institutions.

I note some of the schools listed are in Switzerland.

Re: Switzerland. In general, (exceptions noted below) I see no reason to apply to any Swiss school that is not a Swiss University. There are many distance business schools there that cannot call themselves Universities, as they do not have Swiss Federation requirements to be called Universities. 100+ highly-qualified professors, buildings, library holdings, research and other things that it is impossible for a distance-school to have, in most circumstances. These schools which are not universities can register as Cantonally-approved schools and legally teach degree programs - but these will not have the standing of Mainstream Swiss University programs. They may have no standing at all - inside or outside Switzerland. Some of them have programmatic accreditation - ACBSP etc. That does not give their schools magic Institutional Accreditation or equivalent.

There are other Swiss Cantonal schools which teach programs leading to British or other University degrees. These are perfectly legal and yes - you pass and you have a British degree. But I'd look at the British School first - can you go direct? Would you save money by doing so?

There are exceptions, but I can only think of one: IMD Business School. They teach an MBA for around $100K US. Very selective - great reputation. Not distance. Grads earn plenty, on average. "Triple Crown " accreditation - AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. (Note: Still not a Swiss Federation University - but in this case - who cares?) If you can afford a year in Switzerland and tuition at IMD - it might be a great idea. But remember -- for that price, you can go anywhere. Making the choice might be difficult - but it would be a nice problem to have... :)

No URLs. I looked up the Netherlands school. All you have to do is read the accreditation page. It says that the school has applied for Netherlands accreditation but has not yet received it. That's all I needed to know. All that provisional stuff - I don't consider useful info. It's either accredited or it isn't. (Yawn.) If/when it is .. be sure to let me know.

The International Business Academy, Kolding Denmark was an easy find - even though - again, no url was provided. There are eight accredited Business Academies in Denmark and this is one of them. Here's a page on these schools and their type of accreditation. I gather it's usually restricted to bachelor's degrees. At least, they say so.

In your list, I only recommend the University of London through London School of Economics & Politics.

I second TEKMAN on this point. However, be aware that quality has it's price...I know of someone who pursued distance London through LSEP and...if you complete you should be justly proud of the achievement.

I looked at the two posts and said "What the H---? The OP posted a list of 26 schools and only ONE meets these guys' exacting standards?"
Then I went down the list... Know what? I think you guys (Greg and TEKMAN) are right!

My apologies, I forgot to mention that I read the accreditation page of course, however initially that whole 'S.S.M.L. Adriano Macagno, Italy' thing got me confused, I called them and they explained me that they are accredited by the Italian law and it's valid all over Europe, even in the UK.
That is why I am writing in this forum, you have the experience and understanding on a bigger scale and for sure people here are even more familiar with the usual tricks that one should look out for. For a beginner like me, and many other students it's just a whole new world and there are so many of these institutions/accreditation organizations and many claim to be someone they are not.

Regarding the Kolding article, thank you! I read it through and to me once again, it seems totally legit.

So my question is, why you don't recommend it? I understand that a university in the UK has definitely much more experience, reputation and all, however not everyone has that possibility. What is the real difference between going to a prestigious accredited university in UK or to one of these accredited academies or business schools, in Denmark for example?
Of course, there is always higher levels of quality and more experienced teachers, but apart from that for this reason, Could I not be accepted to a good MBA program in the future, or perhaps will I miss a job opportunity elsewhere in Europe?

    Thanks again for your help!

    Thank you.
What about the Open University? Why wouldn't you recommend it?

There's nothing wrong with either the Open University or with Teesside, although I would agree that LSE is more prestigious than either.

Well, you might learn more one way than you might the other. Or not. The main thing is - a UK employer will know the name and rep. of the British school, but might well look askance at the Danish qualification - might not even be sure it's real. If he/she tosses it after a first glance (because there are 766 others, most with UK qualifications) you won't even get a chance to prove it's legit. Now, if you're applying for a job in Copenhagen, it's different. A known entity. Kan du tale dansk? (How's your Danish?)

But in London, you might be (figuratively) up the Skagerrak - or perhaps the Thames, without a paddle.

As just Steve and Mac said, those are decent school too and would recommend. However, when you are trying to earn a higher education degree; trying to earn from the most prestigious school as possible. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is ranked #8 in UK, and #49 in the world. Sometimes or most of the time, where earn you prestigious college degree helps you landing jobs.

To be fair, those rankings are for the B&M school and not distance via University of London. However, based on my anecdotal evidence it is still HIGHLY regarded.

I am not redacting my opinion at all; in the UK the "elite" universities are generally considered the "Russell Schools". LSEP is in the Russell Group.

    So true.

As I wish to say something positive about my alma mater, I would like to point out that Open University UK is "triple crown" accredited - accredited by AACBS, AMBA and EQUIS.
