As of today, Falwell's profile has been removed from Liberty's Executive Leadership webpage. Previously, he was listed as "President on Indefinite Leave."

Liberty will be better for it, assuming they don't simply replace him with another, less vile, version.

I can't say this is bad - because I don't know anything about the guy - but there's still a Falwell near the top. "Trey" Falwell, (that's Jerry III - Jr's son) is VP of Operations at Liberty. So Liberty is still, to some extent - Falwell-managed. Probably always will be. Just not by Jerry Jr. And as I said before - neither bad nor good, in and of itself. Depends on the individuals.

Yes, he's on the senior leadership team. I don't think he wields as much power as the people on the executive leadership team and the board of trustees.

    Latest Update:

August 25, 2020: By Office of Communications & Public Engagement Lynchburg, VA—The Liberty University Board of Trustees acted today to accept the resignation of Jerry Falwell, Jr. as its President and Chancellor and also accepted his resignation from its Board of Directors. All were effective immediately.

The Executive Committee met this morning and voted to accept all the resignations immediately and recommend ratification to the full Board. Later this morning, the full Board gathered via conference call and unanimously voted to affirm the decision of the Executive Committee.

Falwell’s severance compensation was dictated by the terms of his pre-existing employment agreement without any adjustment by the University or its Board.

The Board set its next meeting in Lynchburg to select a search committee for its new President.

If anyone is seeking to become a college president, this might be a wonderful opportunity :D

Guess whose name won't be on my diploma? Hahaha!

Notice he keeps trying to pin all of this on Becki, and he's just taking one for the (Liberty) team. Spinning like the Tea Cups at Disneyland.

Give him time. He's in a pretty high position of influence for so young a man. Let's see how things play out for him ... might surprise us all - hopefully in a good way.

    $10.5 million. That'll ensure a soft landing.

The chance you have to be a religious and conservative individual to qualified for the position.

I'm pretty sure there are people on DI who meet that description.

That’ll be a competitive position, I would assume. Not to say there is not someone on DI who is qualified though!

Wow. Huge win for Liberty as an institution. I hope that this event begins a reigning-in process of Liberty's future leaders in that they see that if a Falwell can be held accountable by the institution and its constituents, anyone can. Could be a major turning point in the history of how the university has historically dealt with controversy. On a side note, I'm happy that you and other liberty students can now feel slightly less apprehensive about finishing their educational journeys. Good luck to you! Here's to finishing with no further controversy.

If this embarrassing debacle has been a victory, I'd hate to see a defeat.

He should have been forced out ages ago and it sucks he's getting a massive compensation package out of this, but the fact that it happened at all is...hopefully a good sign? Could just be one big face saving ploy, but I want to be optimistic :D

Hopefully, an experienced academic administrator with a doctorate is selected.

It only we knew of someone with extensive public sector experience, skilled and experienced in distance learning, who holds a PhD in the field.
