    Hello!

There is an online college out there (https://www.rcmedu.ch/) that claims to be accredited by the Kingdom of Hawaii Royal Accreditation Commission (KOHRAC).
Hawaii? Royal? Still active? - Did I miss something, or is this a candidate for the most hyphy claim since long?

    Best regards,
    Mac Juli

Well, it appears that Rockwell's reference to the Kingdom of Hawaii Royal Accreditation Commission is the ONLY such reference on the web. Rockwell's own site looks like something engineered on a DIY template provided by a cheap hosting service in 1995. But why worry - they also have accreditation from .... ASIC International! :)

This is obviously a Cantonally authorized school - i.e. not a Swiss Federation-recognized University. It can legally award degrees of non-mainstream standing. As I'm always careful to point out, ASIC themselves say that their accreditation does not accord or enhance degree-granting authority. Until I hear of someone getting an RA equivalency from a recognized North American credential evaluator - well, I'd wait. Forever, if necessary.

As to that Kingdom claim - all I can say is:

    (1) The Kingdom was overthrown around 1893. Hawaii became a US territory in 1898 and a State in 1959. Recognition of rights of Native Hawaiians is still an ongoing process. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_recognition_of_Native_Hawaiians

    (2) In any case KOHRAC isn't a CHEA or USDoE recognized accreditor. Since Hawaii is a US State, this matters. Since they appear to have accredited precisely one school, thousands of miles away, nobody in Hawaii State Government probably cares.

    (3) From remarks on his site, I infer the owner did something beneficial in education for Native Hawaiians. I'm guessing that, to show appreciation, leaders probably got together and formed an ad hoc "accreditation commission" to give him a nice-looking award.

    (4) Is this the most hyped-up claim ever? Not quite, as I see it.These two incidents below have it beat.

    (A) Some school operator once claimed accreditation (of some sort) from two legitimate traditional African kings. These real monarchs were savvy marketers, who endorsed various things when it was worth their while - and within their power to do so. But in this case they had to decline. The country's government recognizes them as traditional Kings and they have certain royal powers - but those didn't include accreditation of schools.

    (B) The owner of a US religious school showed on the school's website that it was "accredited by The Lord Jesus Christ."

I suppose, by actually being there for the Accreditor's Site Visit. And taking pictures - and with luck, an interview, perhaps.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but this school is certified by EduQua and that organization is a recognized accreditor by the Swiss Government.

Here is where I found a list of EduQua certified schools: https://alice.ch/de/dienstleistungen/eduqua/zertifizierte-institutionen/

Since they are already backed by EduQua, I don't understand the need for the other affiliations.

I'm sorry. I counted four (or five) questions in your post. My mistake.

EduQua has nothing to do with Rockwell's degree-granting authority (which they have from the Canton.) Their degrees are not Swiss Federation degrees, so they have less standing than mainstream degrees. EduQua - as its name suggests, deals with the quality of courses/programs, some at degree-granting schools, some not. It is an accreditor, in the sense of quality assurance, but not in the sense of Institutional Accreditation US-style.

EduQua certifies at adult-oriented schools; as I said, not all of them are degree-granting. They assure that courses etc. are up to their standards. Degree-granting authority? Not their job.

    "eduQua is
the first Swiss quality label geared towards providers of adult learning programmers. The label promotes transparency and comparability of adult learning for the benefit of consumers and contributes to safeguarding the quality of adult education programmers in Switzerland."

OK, so it must be one of those situations where the terminology there has a different meaning than it does in the United States.

This would really confuse Americans: "founded in 2000 [3]. EduQua is an accreditation body recognized and supported by the Swiss Confederate Government; it's the first quality certification for public and private educational institutions in Switzerland. EduQua is the premier quality assurance body accreditation scheme for continuing education (can be general education, further education, professional education)."

Yes - it is that, precisely. :)
Yes, it would. That's why I'm glad so many come to DegreeInfo confused and go away enlightened. A few others, of course, arrive enlightened and go away confused. Oh well, we do what we can. All of us. :)

I don't think he's crazy. I'd be willing to bet he could prove his case via genealogy. The problem is that the Kingdom itself was overthrown in the 1890s. It's not an uncommon situation elsewhere. There have been European monarchs - revolutions take place, takeovers occur and the country is no longer a monarchy. The King clings to his title but has no Kingdom. Same with the Russian nobility - those who escaped with their lives and titles, but will never get to sip the fine(?) wine of Belarus in their lost family mansions ever again.

Apparently, this King would like his Kingdom back - and some, it appears, support his cause.

The person in charge of Rockwell seems to be active in Indigenous causes of Hawaii. I'm presuming that's part of the reason he's appointed the claimant to the throne of the Kingdom as Chancellor. And the College is shortly to offer a Doctoral Program - Doctor of Indigenous Knowledge.

I think perhaps the King himself is head of the whole school. Looks that way from this page. The President's title is "Honorary." The Chancellor's title is not.

Here's a long bio. of the King, including an account of some trouble he had that resulted in his spending 14 years in jail.

Whatever you take away from this - it is an extraordinary account. I read on one site His Majesty holds a JD a PhD. and an Ed.D. The schools were named, appear to be offshore and I did not check them out - you can, if you like. :)

Why does all this put me in mind - at least a little bit - of Chief Alexander Swift Eagle Justice?

In case you're interested, here are the sources of His Majesty's degrees:

    JD is from here: http://www.scripturalaw.org/ecj-syllabus.html
A degree described as Ph.D (Ed.D) is from Rockwell College itself
A PhD in Political science was earned at His Majesty King Allen Neoh Weng Wah’s privately owned University-
His Majesties (sic) University of The Borneo Nation.

This King (Allen Neoh Weng Wah) has a video on Youtube about false claimants to his throne - but his University, alas, does not have a website.

Make what you will of all this. Johann out.

I don't know Chief Alexander Swift Eagle Justice, but according to https://drive.google.com/file/d/1p4wvVP1mrXzYQGrP6HJ56GTLh0xhEqSS/view, the self-proclaimed King of Hawaii is dead.
Long live to the king? I did not figure it out...

Easy to find out. Use the search thing here on the forum. Interesting man.
Right, you didn't. The father is deceased. The son (the present King) wrote the eulogy. Both have same name - Sr. and Jr.
