Yes thanks Josh. It's Data Analytics through the graduate school but through a AACSB accredited university (makes a difference for my tuition reimbursement). Business Analytics seems more like what I'm looking for - I just need to find a good school that offers it that would fit my schedule. The data analytics program I'm looking at sounds like it incorporates analyzing business data in order to make decisions but I'm not sure how heavily it is weighed against the coding portion. I've emailed the department to find out more info.

So AACSB does not accredit a university, they accredit the business program within the university. Which Data Analytics program are you looking at? I’d make sure there is a capstone that allows you to utilize the skills you learn. That would help you in terms of employment if you have a portfolio of coding work and results for the department to view.

Yes I understand AACSB accredits the business school. My tuition reimbursement just requires any program in the school be AACSB accredited, not necessarily the program I'm taking (although it must be job-related). I'm looking at University of North Texas's Data Analytics MS, Texas A & M Analytics MS, and Texas A & M Commerce Business Analytics MS.

I do not know their costs but you may also look at Southern Methodist University MS in Data Science. I see you are looking at Texas schools so I assume you live in Texas and want to draw from the reputation these schools have there?

Yes exactly. My MBA is from a school in the northeast and I think it would be beneficial to have a degree from a Texas school. I will look into SMU as well.

Awesome. I think the 2nd masters would help you more than the DBA. I think really you have to decide if you want the business aspect AKA Business Analytics or if you want to dive deep into coding, machine learning and so forth AKA Data Science.

Both are going to have different career paths, in my opinion. They may converge at some point down the road but in the beginning, Data Science is going to have far more usage of R, Python, SQL, SAS, etc. Business Analytics utilizes these languages as well but I do not believe they go as in depth as Data Science programs.

One would not normally pursue a DBA to enter a field of practice.
