Good luck in your studies. I have not got involved in this thread because I know virtually nothing about foreign DL degrees. I do know, not everyone's path is the same and what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. It is a good thing education is not a "one size fits all" type thing.

When it comes to NLP, I doubt that anyone is more dramatic than John McAfee.

Oh wow that's great! I've enrolled at the Universidad de Nicuraga for a PhD in Education. This is for personal enrichment only as my ultimate goal is entrepreneurship which does not require a degree. I will pursue the Isabel I / ENEB degree as well once someone produces a US equivalency report for regional accreditation.

You sure? It won't be $249-299. The Groupon deal will expire 'way before then. Someone will have to complete the degree before it can be evaluated. By that time, it'll probably be back to $8,400.

I feel you. Do what you feel you need to do. Personally, I don't know the difference between any of them so I don't have an opinion either way, LOL. If I find useful info, I'll use it. If not, I'll leave it. I'm just happy to have found a way to get a real masters degree so affordably.

I thought about doing my temporary separation from the USA in Nicaragua and then all the unrest started. So, I went to Colombia instead. What's the Universidad de Nicaragua like and what was the process to get into the university? Do they have English language programs? I'm assuming you're doing your PhD online? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just curious. :)

NLP suffers from the same issue as hypnotherapy. It can only work if you want it to work, it is related to consciousness research. Science requires you to remove the belief variable from a study and it has to be reproducible for every single individual. If I use NLP in a person that does not believe on it and it just follows the exercises without any personal focus or belief, it wont work. But the same can be said about coaching and many psychotherapy techniques.

CBT is a different thing considered a psychotherapy technique mainly to beat depression among other mental illness. NLP is mainly used in coaching and and other business applications where the individual just needs a tool to provide guidance but he or she is motivated and wants to succeed, it won't work for a person with no determination and for this reason will not pass the test of science.

We are free will individuals, I cannot program your mind if you don't want it. The same with hypnotherapy, many people cannot be hypnotized because they cannot focus enough or just don't believe on it.

I use NLP, quite useful for self improvement, be goal oriented and program your subconscious to achieve goals. It works for me.

Yes my PhD is by distance (online). I am currently waiting on an advisor to get in touch with me but I am officially enrolled in the school as of this past Monday. The structure of the program is a full dissertation and I believe there will be no coursework required for me due to my high number of ECTS hours and the second year of a Masters in the USA transferring and exempting all of the coursework for the PhD. It took me a couple of weeks to get fully enrolled and all of my work will be in English. I learned about and enrolled in their program businessschooldirect.info. It's only approximately $6000 for the entire program to be paid one time. I have a friend who is doing his second PhD in Psychology specializing in Coaching with his first being a Doctor of Education at another school and it will have taken him 4 years to complete it which he plans to finalize by the end of the year. UCN requires students to be enrolled a minimum of 2 to 3 years prior to earning their PhD but their is no time limit and students have been known to finish it in a year but had to wait the minimum enrollment period to earn their degrees.

I won't do it if it reverts back to the $8,400. If I manage to purchase and use the Groupon prior to expiration and actually enroll with the affirmation that WES has evaluated it at a minimum graduate level coursework with regional accreditation, I would be willing to take a chance.

I'm not criticizing your decision - I think it's prudent. But with two guarantees in place, (price and RA equivalency) how would you be "taking a chance?" :)

Has RA been guaranteed? I know it is in the WES database but that does not mean it will get RA for the Proprio. It might get NA, graduate diploma/certificate, or something else unusual. I read somewhere on this forum that one evaluator gave a Master Proprio an equivalency of an Associates.

Do you mean years ago when an evaluator said the MBA from Heriot-Watt was equivalent to an Associate degree because it didn't require a first degree for admission?

No - I was talking 'down the road.' You said you'd only 'take a chance' at your chosen time if the price was low and RA equivalency was assured. I was saying, half-jokingly - how is that "taking a chance" if - at that time - you had those two guarantees?

I believe that was the scenario. Come to think of it, it would make since to make it equivalent to an associates degree if no other post-secondary education preceded it.

I think someone got a Master Propio from a Spanish university similar to Isabel I evaluated by WES for use in Canada. WES found it RA equivalent as a postgraduate diploma. Those are common in Canada. In the US we have masters degrees that are 1 year long and worth the same amount of ECTS credits as a Master Propio when converted. So, it wouldn't make sense to evaluate a Master Propio as anything less than a masters degree here.

But, that's only if you need the degree evaluated for some reason. If not, it's perfectly acceptable to list it as a Masters in ____ on your resume because it's a legal masters degree in Spain and perfectly suitable to include on a resume and use it for private industry employment in Spain. Legality in issuing country is the litmus test. It's not like going to medical school in a Caribbean nation but that nation not recognizing your MD degree for use in that country. This is not that, LOL.

Legal is legal. But imagine someone does their research and realizes the school we obtain from. I prefer to list them in certification or write them as pg diploma, not master.
Also, as far as I know, Spain propio degree does not confer designation like MA, MSc, etc..
