Wow, but these options are very expensive... because now you can get master's degree from top universities for $10k.

That is an expensive certificate and with an Alumni status. I looked at Harvard's Certificate in Business Analytics (life sessions and residency). I thought it was about $10,000.00 or less; then the program coordinator called and told me the program is $51,000.00.

I have like a 100 of these, what can I do to put in the resume. I love the knowledge from these courses; it just useless for my resume.

    Well done, Henry!

I'm curious, for you and others who have taken courses from a variety of MOOC providers, which provider did you like best, and why?

I've been taking hundreds of courses from all around the web.
    Here's a summary:

Coursera - The best provider for certificates
Edx - Great place to grab IBM, university X series certificates, but its interface looks outdated when compared to that of Coursera
Udemy - The best place to learn practical skills
Lynda.com (https://www.lynda.com/) - Good short video courses. Sometimes very helpful.
The Great Courses (https://www.thegreatcourses.com/) - Real university video lectures from top professors.

    The best was

Open2Study (Academic) O2S, Through Open Universities Australia (OUA) www.Open2Study.com

They gave you a Certificate with the University logo and a Transcript. I think the funding ended.

    My favorite MOOC's/Alternative learning situations:

I took the microeconomics course within the MITx Data, Economics and Development MicroMasters Program on EdX. I think that I ended up with a B in the actual class and I think that this course best approximated the kind of classes that I had in person at the University of Michigan. It was challenging, the professor was engaging and there was a solid amount of support from MITx staff.

I completed two of the three differential equations courses through Boston University on EdX for ACE credit as part of the defunct Alternative Credit Project Ecosystem. I was a marginal student in these classes because I had not yet taken Calculus II. However, these classes were going away and I gave it a shot. I ended up with a 71% in the first class, but I was at 69.4-something in the second and I needed a 70% to pass. I was down to just a couple of problems and actually pulled an all-nighter in an attempt to push across the threshold. I ended up a couple of hundredths away from passing, but didn't make it. I contacted the teaching assistant in the class and he was compassionate enough to open one single problem for me. I completed it successfully and ended up with a 70%. Again, the fact that there was an actual human within the class made it great.

In 2013, I started the San Jose State/Udacity Intro. to Java Programming course that was a part of maybe the most colossal failure in the history of MOOC's. It was one of the very first programs in which a student could earn actual university credit from a MOOC. My wife had recently had twins and I worked on the class from about 11PM until 1AM each night, frequently holding both of my daughters on my lap and watching Japanese baseball games well into the night. I made it through about half of the class and I am very proud of that. However, it was clear that I was in over my head with my job as a teacher, newborn twin daughters and a pretty challenging class. SJSU was very nice about letting me drop and I read later that the program was a bit of a failure. In my mind, it was a good failure and it started me on the way to several many new degrees, academic and professional certificates.

Finally, I have to say that I have had recent fantastic experiences with two programs that were/are kind of hybrids. The first was at North Dakota State University. I signed up through the k12 PD system they have at NDSU. There was an online component, but he absolute best thing was that I was able to travel to the university and spend a week in the lab of a world-class protein researcher. That was beautiful and has helped me to understand the coronavirus a bit better. I also finished a class earlier this year within the Valley City State University PD system related to library management in which I helped a teacher in North Dakota design a makerspace within her district. For whatever reason, the course had six or seven world-class teachers in it and we all just worked EXTREMELY well together. I found it to be kind of like an executive business program, but with teachers.

I emailed Oxford-Said about alumni status. This is their reply:

Thank you for your email and interest in our Online programmes.

Upon completion of our Online Programmes, you will be invited to join The Oxford Business Alumni (OBA) LinkedIn group. You will not become a full Alumni or the full OBA Network, as you must attend one of our On-Campus Programmes to earn full status.

I did get it after my post but it took well over two hours. Glad I did not wait until just before the first module. The agenda looks good. They might have breakouts like Arizona did which I enjoyed.

After Day 2 (Module 2) I think this is the best of the 3 poor man's Executive Education (EE) that I have taken this month. Amazing expert instructors and Alex stayed after on zoom to answer any questions. Most folks are clueless on NATO but he knows the real NATO. I look forward to the last two days.

These are amazing instructors and the other students all seem to be high-ranking officials in various governments. I was going to lay low in the chat until Tekman volunteered me to speak for the group. Haha!
