I’m getting some first person reports from local schools. The state university systems in Massachusetts and Connecticut are all suspending in class sessions and are going online. Spring Break is upon us and so that’s buying some time to get infrastructure in place. The students are taking it in stride. Many already are taking at least one online class and so it’s nothing new for them. It remains to be seen how bad it will get. Those most closely involved seem to be taking it very seriously. Most people I know are smiling through it so far. Some are worried about elderly relatives. Some are hoarding toilet paper.

After three pages of this, I think it's time for a musical break . . .

These are only the tip of the iceberg. Search "coronavirus song" at YouTube and you get even more choices.

My school is closed tomorrow for "deep cleaning." We'll have a webinar on virtual learning tomorrow. So, I anticipate us closing by next week. I mean, we had a nice winter and didn't use any cyber days. I'm all for teaching from home :) Both of my courses are already online along with the ebooks.

She’s not... wrong. On a national level, there will be a significant number of subpar course transitions, lower expectations, and reduced grading standards... and that will be okay. Between subpar performance, lower expectations, and reduced standards... it’ll pretty much be like a high school prom.

I have not visited Degreeinfo fo a while but decided to do because distant learning is a hot topic during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Colorado most colleges and many schools are relying on distant participation by students.
As it happens I chatted to a person running for regent at a Colorado state university a week ago who wants to reduce student education cost. I suggested on-line degrees would be one approach and she agreed.
