Let's be clear, this is LSUA (Alexandria) not the flagship LSU in Baton Rouge.

How much does this really matter with a state school? I went to a big state school, At the “flagship campus” - I meet people that have gone to various extension campuses and when I say, “O-H” they still say, “I-O”. They are still Buckeyes to me- in fact with the smaller class sizes and more adjuncts with real world experience, they probably got a better educational experience than I did, or at least a more personal one. I’m glad the University offers people so many ways to access their programs.

The degrees are issued by the respective campuses and all campuses are not ranked the same. While I care little about ranking, many people do care.

    Per U.S. News:

LSU Baton Rouge (Flagship) - #153 in National Universities

LSU Alexandria - #164-#215 in National Liberal Arts Colleges (tier 2)

It matters if you're getting a job in the region the state school is homed. If you're not it doesn't matter at all unless you're going into academia.

Ex: I went to UMass Amherst for my MBA. I live in Massachusetts. It seems to make a big deal in conversations had as it's the flagship school in the system and the best business school in terms of admissions cruelty and the resulting reputation. It's certainly not Harvard, but amongst the plebians (read my group of folks :) ) it's important enough to talk about. When I travel to other areas of the country it never comes up and if it does it's not worthy of follow up conversation unless someone I'm chatting with in a lab or academic environment knows someone from the school.

I imagine that to folks living in Louisiana the campus matters at least marginally.
