This whole conversation is pointless! This "impeach the president movement" in just a few hours has gone to lets just shelf the impeachment and not let it go to the Senate. An acquittal or full impeachment is never actualized?? It's basically a half baked cake. Help me understand this strategy. Heaven help any future poor soul that becomes President.

Anyone who seeks that sort of power over others deserves to live under a sword of Damocles.

. . . bringing to mind, of course, yet another classic from the canon of musical theatre:

The Republicans will say bad things about the Democrats. They'll say bad things about the investigation and the witnesses. They'll say bad things about the Impeachment process. But what none of them will say is that Trump is a good man who would never make a force a foreign power to help subvert an American Election. The Republicans will never say Trump didn't do it because they know he's guilty of the charges.

Sounds like you should run for Congress! Guilty until proven innocent, welcome to the new banana republic.

Don't hold your breath, Bruce. Nancy Pelosi, the Wicked Witch of the West, San Francisco's congresswoman-for-life (she's 974 years old! Amazing what deals with the devil can do!) is hinting now that she won't deliver the articles of impeachment to the Senate until she damn well feels like it. She wants it to hang over the President's head for as long as possible, while the press masturbates madly. It's all political theater.

That's precisely what Nancy doesn't want. So she's apparently saying that after all the theatrics of the last few weeks (all leading to an intended denouement that was telegraphed even before Trump's inauguration) impeachment won't proceed until the Senate witness list and procedural rules are just to her liking.

I'm not sure of your religious persuasion but it might interest you to know that just today Christianity Today, the magazine founded by Billy Graham, just came out in favor of the removal of Trump from office. I found it to be an interesting article, even if I'm not Christian. Their condemnation of Trump may not be important to you but it's bound to influence a lot of other people. I understand it's fairly widely read.

Religious points of view don't really interest me at all! I'm pretty sure Trump is not a "Saint" and he would be the first one to tell you so! This whole mess is about power and control, mingled with some constitutional doctrine for show.

It IS weird. But I guess that, if the Senate gets to decide for itself how to conduct a "trial" the House likewise can do whatever it likes with the "impeachment." There is a kind-of legal analogue, I guess. A prosecuting attorney must decide whether to file an indictment based upon a Grand Jury's true bill. But then again, if the indictment isn't filed, the GJ proceedings are supposed to be sealed.

Where would you like his innocence proven? Justice is not found in impeachment. Are you suggesting a criminal trial?

Yeah, let's add Don Jr., Ivanka, Kushner, Giuliani's theater, ...
The accusation against Joe the incumbent wanted "investigated" is absurd on its face. Biden did NOT get a prosecutor fired to bury investigation against Burisma (let alone Hunter), for simple reason that the prosecutor, Victor Shokin, built his career and fortune on his ability to bury investigations of anyone politically connected. He was famous for it. Joe, one of the few people in US who had a clue on what goes on in Ukraine, was sure to know this.

Oh BTW: Trump sure knew that you don't actually need to get anyone fired to silence inconvenient investigation in Ukraine. He agreed to sell Javelins and meet with Poroshenko (two political wins embattled then-President of Ukraine desperately needs) weeks after investigation into Manafort was mysteriously shelved by Shokin's successor, Lutsenko. So Trump knows the ropes. Lutsenko and Shokin are two chief sources of Koe/Hunter/Burisma conspiracy theories. Lutsenko since backpedaled, hard.

As fun as this would be, Trump is still guilty as charged. And he is the only one currently serving as POTUS. So, I don't know, priorities maybe?

In 91 minutes after the "perfect" phone call the following email was sent by Duffy, head of the OMB. "In his email, Duffey added that “given the sensitive nature of the request, I appreciate your keeping that information closely held to those who need to know to execute the direction.”"

This makes it obvious that the the extortion was being put in place and at the same time the intent is clear that the cover-up of the extortion was launched at the same time. It needed to be kept secret. Why keep it secret if everything was above board and "perfect"?

Two people in the OMB quit because they thought the order was illegal. They thought it was illegal because the law states that if the executive branch was not going to spend such funds prescribed by congress then congress had to be so informed. The day after the White House found out about the whistle blower complaint, Trump released the almost half a billion dollars. The Trump talking points are that this is all a string of coincidences that just keep piling up. Yet they are not willing to release documents or allow people in the White House to testify to congress. The President won't allow this evidence to come forward even though it would clear him of any wrong doing?
