    Hey, what's with the sudden use of really big-ass letters and bold print - you know, shouting? Next thing, some of these numb-nuts will unnecessarily start posting in color.

    Try posting in really small letters instead - people have to squint to read them, which really makes them pay attention. But they'll still think you're an ass. :D

    Is this more about raising revenue and giving people jobs than about illegal immigrants. Why will the federal government recruit immigrants from another country, gave then a student visa, take a lot of money from them, and then deport them. Crazy!
    ==
    Canadian police had an interesting system. They will recruit suspects into a fake mafia. Make them feel important, actually gave them fake jobs to performed. Have them boast about they past crimes and then arrest them.
    ==
    Surely, the Americans can be more creative catching bad aliens. Why pick on nerds? Isn’t that school yard bullying?

    Why do the moderators allow Mr.Levicoff to use this forum to name call and berate others? He consistently insults and uses this forum to dispaly his comtempt for others- at one time he might have been a good resource but his negativity impacts the knowledge he offers. I have nothing against him, and at one point he inspired me to get more education and write, but his act is getting old. He feels we should just write it off as humor but it hurts peopele. anyone agree , or disagree ? And what do the moderators have to say? Others have been banned for less.

    And yes in my haste I made some spelling errors in last post as I feel this is an urgent issue.

    Because (I've heard) he pays them each a hefty fee each month for the privilege. And so he should.

    Years ago, in another forum, Saint Levicoff descended from his Rig-on-High and fired his Holy Flamethrower at Gretchen Lynne Tripp, a.k.a. Dekker, formerly Snell - daughter of veteran mill-meister Les Snell. She never posted again, and I was sorry to see that. We could possibly have learned something about her father and the many "schools" he operated.

    From that forum:

    Gretchen: He (Mr. Les Snell) is not a trustworthy business man. Unless he finds Jesus, this will not change.
    Johann: If Mr. Snell find Jesus, the Lord will recognize him and keep a tight grip on His wallet.

    laferney,

    Let's not be overly sensitive. I say this a member of a generation that is overly sensitive. Sure, the comments may trouble you. But I will defend his right to post on the board. His contributions far outweigh my own meager contributions. Plus, the guy can be genuinely funny. If you disagree with something, you can point it out to him. Steve has a thick skin. This board would be impoverished if we erased all traces of strong commentary and attempted to police the speech of legendary forum contributors. :) Does it hurt people? Maybe. But why do you believe that people's feelings should be protected at all times?

    Steve is religious so he should like this one from an atheist.
    James 3:11
    Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
    Definitely!

    There is such a thing as civlity and internet etiquette. Noone is blocking free speech, the rigth to disagree or posting strong commentary. But calling degreeeinfo members numnuts and asses? It is only because the moderators enable this by not having some kind of statement. I've seen them intervened and end post when things get heated.
    I also have talked to perope who don't post here beecause they get personally attacked. It is better than it used to be in the early days of degreeinfo.
    Rich Douglas is a legendary forum contributer whod doesn't resort to name calling. Yes Steve can be funny but being the DON Rickles of Degreeinfo diminshes the impact of his posts. "His contributions far outweigh my own meager contribution" Don't sell yourseff short. There are many deegreeinfo members who can offer as much as the "legendary" contributers. We all have differnt expereiences. And no I don't feel people should be protected at all times. But bullying only ends when you acknowlege it, call it out and the modeerators here have a moral duty to prevent it.

    Phdtobe and laferney,

    We should all be mindful of the power of the tongue. However, I would hope that this board won't descend into the madness of political correctness and censorship of anything that someone in cyberspace finds offensive. Isn't it better to just say that you disagree with a particular comment and leave it at that? Why the immediate need to "do something about it"?

    I am someone skeptical of the claim of cyberbullying. Calling someone an ass isn't nice. Granted. But there's a gulf between that and the real phenomenon, which can end up with suicide!

    it's long standing issue -not immediate. But I have made my point and and I will follow your advice and say I diagree with his comments. The moderators are the only people who can police what appropriate behavior and proper etiquette should be on degreeinfo. I thank phdtobe, tadj and johann for your feedback

    Tadj, are you becoming what you said you don't like in others? At the moment you are the only poster in this tread who is being unreasonable. I think Steve has earned his privileged to be arrogant, he has a phd and you and I don't, and other posters like laferney has the privilege not to like it. Also, I think I have a privilege to use sarcasm, just in case you missed it.

    An arrogant PhD? I hope that's still more of a stereotype, although I distinctly remember when a person non-jokingly told me that he is pursuing his doctorate, "so that others will refer to me as Doctor," (I wouldn't downplay the role of the ego in this pursuit) so you never know....

    Brilliant, Michael. You have successfully diverted this thread into a critique of me, and did so without ever addressing the issue I brought to the forefront - the obnoxious use of all large bold letters, known as "shouting." You didn't even acknowledge that, but simply whined and hijacked the thread into a pro-Levicoff/anti-Levicoff apologia. What you have done, old buddy, is absolutely worthy of Trump.

    But in doing so, you have committed one error – you have let your emotions get the best of you, to the extent that your posts are full of typos (which you admitted in your second response). And that is unworthy of someone who claims to have a publication-based doctorate and to teach at the college level.

    Oh, yes, campers – Michael Laferney has, in fact, indicated that he holds a doctorate himself – https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/degreeinfo-doctoral-board.27924/#post-284658 – who has been an adjunct professor of psychology for several years – https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/so-what-does-everyone-teach.26818/page-2#post-272319. His doctorate is a publication-only degree in general and social psychology from the University of Central Nicaragua – https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/is-aacrao-and-naces-approval-enough-to-make-a-foreign-degree-legitimate.25428/page-2#post-256220.

    Moreover, Michael has posted hundreds of helpful, informative posts over a period of 17 years here on DegreeInfo. He has not made an obnoxious habit of posting in ridiculously large, bold type, at least not that I have noticed in the past. But for some reason, acting like an idiot instead of an academic professional, he decided to adopt this obnoxious habit in this thread. And then act like an offended twit when it was pointed out as a gaffe in Internet protocol. As I said, just like a Trump – divert from the issue at hand without even addressing it.

    Let’s face it, Michael – you screwed up. No big whoop, but you did screw up. And now we’re seeing, as has always been the case, that I have my fans, and I have my detractors. Also no big whoop – it comes with the territory when you hold to a high academic standard (also when you bust degree mills). But it’s below your stature to whine as you have been doing in this thread. I would respect you a lot more if you had simply laughed it off – and then not posted in such a manner again. But you couldn’t – so you took it to an ad hominem level.

    Fortunately, I don’t give a crap. I don’t even care about your reference to me as “Mr. Levicoff,” although from your comments that I have cited you obviously know what my credentials are. No sweat, though – even I don’t generally refer to myself with a doctoral title (90% of the people I deal with on an everyday basis don’t even know I have one). But, as a doctoral academic, you should have known better. And, in fact, I think you do know better – it was simply part of your Trumpian strategy.

    So congratulations again, Michael – it’s not the way I would have played being exposed as a literary slob, but it turned this into an entertaining thread. And if you're not laughing your ass off at this response, I'd say that instead of being a teacher of psychology, perhaps you should be a patient. :D
