It's huge, too. Too big for common use. It's too long to fit into a regular parking space, it's tires stick out from the wheel wells (which won't be legal). It's a concept vehicle, little more. There's a long way to go from that thing to what will actually be produced, if anything.
It just looks like something from a futuristic 80's movie when they thought cars would look like that now. Boy, were they wrong and thank goodness. The demo didn't go well, capped off by the breaking glass which I just know Elon Musk was embarrassed by but he did a decent job of hiding it. I'd be surprised if that monstrosity ever sees the light of day, not because it wasn't intended to but because I doubt the reception went they way they'd hoped. Reminds me of a truck version of the Vector concept car that featured in the premier of Remington Steele many moons ago. In the 80s, the future was apparently angular.
Couple of hundred thousand pre-orders so far. Of course, that just means putting down $100 and waiting, so it isn't a huge commitment.
I don't know what it's like in other places but in my neighborhood anyone who could afford to buy this truck would probably just put it in a garage, cover it and leave it there for 20 years. I don't see anyone actually driving this around town.
