Canada's oldest and most well known school of this type is Athabasca University in Alberta - https://www.athabascau.ca.

Whether it is affordable or not is subjective, but I would imagine that they are competitive with more expensive schools. If you are simply looking for a cheap program, good luck - as a general rule, cheap degree programs that are legitimate no longer exist anywhere.

Canada does not offer much in online education. However, an accredited online education from the USA in most cases should suffice for Canada.

Do you have a list of the schools that are also recognized both USA and canada. I did a bachelor biblical studies with a university there and have a hard time as it’s not recognized even there in USA (friends international Christian university)

Nope. Because you have not yet done your homework. So start doing it now. Start by entering, without the quotation marks, "bachelor and counseling" in the search box at the top of this page, and read every thread that comes up as a result. Then do another search on "regional and national accreditation" and read the linked results as well.

Bottom line: You did not earn a degree from a university here in the States at all, you earned a worthless piece of paper from a diploma mill that is even described as a mill on its own Facebook page. Just for the fun of it, do another search here on DI on the accreditation they claim, "Accrediting Commission International," and read those threads.

In short, you got screwed. Big time. You got ripped off by a scam a sham, and a fraud. I'll give you benefit of doubt and assume that you were just too naïve to know it was happening, but before you earn a legit degree you need to do a lot of personal research. So don't be in a rush to proceed, or you'll simply get screwed again.

Meanwhile, welcome to DegreeInfo. I'm actually delighted that you managed to make it here. We've been around for some 18 years now, which means that there are probably hundreds of lists here on the type of program for which you're searching. So start lurking here today, learning as much as you can about subjects like accreditation and how to tell legit schools from scams. We'll be there to help you along the way, but you need to do a lot of research on your own and not expect us to provide lists that we have provided hundreds times already.

Your fun, exciting journey begins . . . now.

I haven't checked up on Friends International but I'm going to assume that Steve is correct in his assessment (so sorry for your loss). But that means you'll be looking for a Bachelors degree in Psych from a Canadian university (I don't know if you're going to find a Bachelors degree in Counseling). As Steve indicated, it's really not hard to find (google is your friend). Here's one:

    https://www.queensu.ca/artsci_online/programs/bachelor-of-arts/psychology-degree

    here's another

    https://laurentian.ca/program/psychology/online

So go forth an google your brains out. Let us know what you find and maybe then you can be the one who starts the fabled programs list.

You may want to look at Thompson Rivers U. in BC . They have a distance BA majoring in psych. https://www.tru.ca/distance/programs/arts.html

Canada's Universities as a whole are by no means a low-cost distance ed. environment. Lowest individual distance course costs I know of are at U. of Manitoba - but I don't think there are nearly enough course offerings there to complete the degree you're looking for. Figure on a distance degree costing you about the same in tuition as on-campus. I have never seen a "distance discount" here.

Liberty University has an online distance learning Masters in Mental Health Counseling. Cost is reasonable. The problem for you is your bachelors degree. You will need an accredited one.

Plenty of help is available here in how to do that (bachelors) in an efficient and cost effective manner.

They are accredited by a recognized accreditor. It is national accreditation and that means less utility when applying to Regionally accredited schools and may have less utility in Canada (outside of Religious contexts).

No, it's an obvious degree mill.

Any idea of accredited schools for counselling looking at doing at my own pace and not taking a loan

Wow, you sure know how to pick them. Logos is another degree mill - one of the longest that exists in the U.S., having been founded in 1977. They operate under a religious exemption in Florida.
There are hundreds of them, which makes your question way too broad. But all of the legitimate schools are likely way too expensive considering what you are seeking.

Also, your so-called bachelor's degree from FICU is also from a degree mill. Therefore, you are starting from scratch. Before you get ripped off again, you should also check the licensure requirements in your province - you are likely to find that licensure as a counselor requires at least a masters degree, which means you would have to earn a legitimately accredited bachelor's and then a legitimately accredited master's.

My advice: Find another profession. Your current credentials are worthless, and all of the schools you are asking about here are also worthless.

    Alkuish,

Friends International Christian University makes it clear that they are "not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education." See this page; http://www.ficuflorida.com/accreditation.htm. You can only blame yourself for the situation. The Florida religious-exempt college is not responsible for people's lack of reading comprehension. You should have received those kinds of skills in elementary school. You're in a tough spot now. No secular institution is going to accept those credits. You only stand a chance with another Christian institution. However, the procedure might not work, as that specific religious-exempt university looks particularly crappy. If I were in that situation, I would initially look for ways to show my biblical knowledge through exams for credit. This would be a way of demonstrating that you deserve to get some advanced credit in a degree program. Some Bible Colleges will allow you to knock out a number of credits in this way. Furthermore, you can try a prior learning assessment procedure with an institution that provides undergraduates with this option. You can also try to apply directly to a Master's program at various accredited Christian institutions and see whether they would allow you to enter their graduate degree on probation. The last option may be particularly difficult, but you might eventually find such an institution.

I had a few extra minutes and punched this one up. Fairly impressive - reasonable tuition for an ABHE accredited school and well-designed bachelor's program in human services with a counseling major. The question is, if one wanted to go for a master's degree, which schools, if any, will accept ABHE accreditation? Historically, for example - and keep in mind that I consider ABHE to be legitimate - TESU will traditionally not accept ABHE credits in transfer unless they are also regionally accredited.

But one thing is clear, alkuish: With your phony degree from FICU, unless you have extensive knowledge and could challenge courses through PLA, you are looking at starting from scratch.

If the description below accurately depicts the doctoral-level program of Friends International Christian University, I wouldn't put my hopes up when it comes getting direct transfer credits for the even less valuable Bachelor's-level coursework at this institution. You can either a) find a Bible College which offers the PLA procedure b) start another degree at a reputable institution c) apply for admission to a Master's degree program at various Christian institutions in the hope that one of them will respond to you positively. Be prepared to receive a lot of rejections in the application process! Even the universities that have previously accepted the graduates from the better non-accredited institutions have recently closed the doors to such applicants. Liberty University could serve as as example. They used to accept Andersonville grads. Right now, the door is also closed to them.

Quote: "One, prominent diploma mill for ministers is “Friends International Christian University.” This “school” awards doctorates to candidates who, after completing very minimal prerequisites, finish eight, easy correspondence classes. A diligent high school graduate can have his or her “doctorate” in less than a year."

"The average, real, earned doctorate takes over eight years to obtain after earning a bachelors and then a master’s degree. Doctorates from Friends International Christian University have been awarded to ministers such as “Dr.” Fred Price, “Dr.” T. D. Jakes, “Dr.” Ron Kenoly, and “Dr.” Stephen Wiley."

This is a cool article - not because it references me (which it does, but only in passing), but based on its comments about Rick Walston's Columbia Evangelical Seminary, discussed on DI in a recent thread about James White's alleged doctorate. The best thing about this coverage is a link to photos of CES' "campus" that I thought were long lost from the web - http://www.shields-research.org/Novak/CES/ces.htm. Fun stuff.
