She reveals, in a Vogue cover story, that she has been pursuing the supervised-by-a-lawyer approach to qualifying for the Bar since last July. California is one of four states that allows this approach. She says she can already "do criminal law in my sleep." It's a four-year process, with the "Baby Bar" exam after one year.

Interesting! That is the very old way of doing it. I wish her well.

It's the way Abraham Lincoln did it. Wow, Abe Lincoln and Kim Kardashian in the same post!

It's possible that one can become a good lawyer by reading the law, but the chances of passing the Baby Bar and Bar are very low. Kim K has the resources for tutors, but someone on the other forum said that only 9 people in California have been successful at reading the law and passing the Bar exams.

You hit on the major factor. She has the resources to pay a team of instructors for a traditional law education, on her own schedule, for as long as it takes to achieve it. If she is really serious about doing it I am sure she will do it. She doesn’t have to contend with other students, competing schedule demands, “useless” parts of the curriculum.... just hire the right people and get a tailored education.

The Kardashians annoy me to no end...but wishing her nothing but the best in this. Absolutely nothing wrong with doing it this way.

She has chosen perhaps the toughest way to become a lawyer, in California no less. Regardless of how much help she has, she can't just rely on memorization and rote learning. She will have to learn to think like a lawyer. Some have the aptitude for it and some just simply don't. And intelligence plays a part in it, but then again I've dealt with some fairly daft and incompetent attorneys. Maybe she finally decided that it's time she tried to do something with her life or she felt like she should try to live up to her Dad's (Robert Kardashian) former expectations. Maybe it's just one big publicity stunt and the joke is on us. Only she knows for sure. But if she is sincere and serious then there's always a chance. Can't blame her for trying. So go get 'em Kim.

The California bar is very demanding and hard to pass. A lawyer friend of mine had been a lawyer for years in New York. He moved back to California and had to pass the California bar. He studied full time for months before taking the bar here in California. If Kardashian passes then she has earned it.

Oh, gosh...a few years ago...wasn't it the then-brand new dean of Stanford Law that failed her first attempt? I think she passed on the second go-around

I have separated her celebrity status from her student status. She is an over-hyped celebrity. I still don’t know what are her competencies, but she is mega rich. I played no part in her wealth.
Now as a non-traditional student, I hope she joins DI to promote online education.

I think that Kim is probably a very smart woman. At least she has a certain type of intelligence. Many people think that she is an overhyped celebrity. But that is her skill. She is in the Marketing business and the product/service that she markets is herself. And she is extremely good at it. She inherited a bundle but she and her family have transformed this into true wealth (I guess that's where I draw that line). Regardless of that, I think she can probably succeed at becoming an attorney. She will certainly be tutored every single step of the way. If she makes it a priority in her life then she'll likely do fine. Maybe she'll replace Judge Judy. Maybe she'll just use the knowledge to run the family business. In any case, you can be sure that it will be in the press, TMZ, etc. at every stage.

I didn't think so, either in residence for my J.D. or by correspondence for my LL.M. I thought it was all very interesting though certainly a lot of work. Maybe the lawyer dream what she's in love with and not the reality?

On the plus side, she gets to buy a whole new "law school wardrobe."

I like this split personality thing. I think you are wrong anyway. She won’t buy the wardrobe, she will design a new line that meets what she is looking for and then market it to business professionals.
