Acbsp has a habit of accrediting some stinkers. Many of these Acbsp institutions do not have accreditation in their home countries. So the waters become murky and people get hurt.

Is ASIC the kind of organization that would accredit a mill?

Additionally, regardless of what the "reader" for Dr. Bear found in 2012, a quick Google search of their existing address clearly shows a corner building with Horizons on it.

OK, well I guess this one slipped by me. I usually remember enough about these threads to at least go back and remind myself of old info. So it's a caveat emptor situation for Blair and others.

A decrepit building that they share with, among others, a Carrefour supermarket, the Clio Blue costume jewelry shop, the Racine Carrée hair salon, and the Leonard Café, a brewery.

Considering that they purport to offer bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees both on campus and online, I'd still say that it's a degree mill.

We can judge for ourselves. Here is a listing. One thing that stands out for me is that college and university is not in the name of any of asic u.k institutions.

Get your food, your jewelry, your hair cut, and a beer where you go to school........ Sounds like a plan.

If you have issues with for-profit schools, then you don't want to go nationally accredited because that's mostly what you will find. There are exceptions below the NA Doctoral level, and there may be some more exceptions out there at the NA Doctoral level, but if so there aren't many.

If you go name brand, regionally accredited, and non-profit, expect to pay a helluva lot more money than you would at Apollos which is a kick given how many people think non-profit = cheaper tuition across the board.

I agree that costs are widely misunderstood

Thank you both for your reply. I would like to do a DBA for only personal achievement and enrichment, preferably from a nonprofit. The only NA school that offers online DBA I could find is William Howard Taft University, though I'm not sure whether it's a nonprofit or not?

There are 2 others DEAC schools.......Columbia Southern and UMT.

Personally, I would choose Columbia Southern if I were to choose a NA DBA.

The Princeton Review identifies William Howard Taft University as a private for-profit.

I hear that a majority of Apollo’s employees have DBA degrees from there. Isn’t this unusual? And I am aware that one such MBA was awarded and the student didn’t have an accredited Bachelors. Does DEAC check out such matters?

Just wanted to follow back up and thank everyone for their replies. Columbia Southern, Taft and Apollos were my final 3 and I chose Apollos. I start in April and will be happy to provide updates if anyone is interested.

I know Apollos is cheap in cost but shouldn't it be a red flag if you they don't offer Federal Aid? I think I would rather go with Columbia Southern which appears on the path of becoming IACBE accredited for their business degrees (they are now a IACBE Member).

I don't see why it's bad for a school not to participate in Title IV. It's not a quality issue.

Why would it be a red flag? I didn't even consider this as it isn't anything I could participate in.

Given what's happen to Argosy and others I would want a degree from a program you know will be around 20 years from now. This school used to be in Huntington Beach, CA and relocates to Montana. The website seems lightweight. Say what you want about University of Phoenix however they will still be in business 20+ years from now.
