The other thing that is funny about the Cleveland Browns going to the Super Bowl is that a few years ago it could honestly said that the Cleveland Cavaliers won the basketball championship , the Cleveland Indians had clinched the baseball penant, and the Cleveland Browns football team was undefeated. But the only reason that my Brownies were undefeated was that the football season hadn't started.

What do you think about the Brownie's coach being fired? I long for the days when there was greater team loyalty and coaches served forever (like Bo and Woody). Personally, if I owned the Cleveland Browns, I would have congratualated the coack for actually having 2 wins already this year, which is a 100% improvement over last year's 1-15 record. We beat the San Diego Chargers last year. And Cleveland is not the worst team in pro football ever, as the 2008 Detroit Lions went 0-16.

He started in the short-lived USFL, then in the NFL, then for eight years in the CFL, then back to the NFL.

Doug Flutie did play in the CFL and won some championships up there. He also played for several NFL teams including the Patriots. In 2006 he completed the first drop-kick since 1941. It was pretty funny and amazing at the time.

My Cleveland Brownies just beat the Atlanta Falcons 28-16. That means that the Brownies have three wins this year, three times the number of wins for all last yesar.

Well Ted, the Browns did better than the Pats. Role reversal.

And here we are again, another moment that a lot of people didn't want - the Patriots in the Superbowl - AGAIN! But try not to worry, every dynasty comes to an end, someday.

True, but I don’t think we’ll ever see an NFL dynasty like the Patriots ever again.

If the Saints were in the Super Bowl, as a former resident of Bossier City Louisiana I'd naturally cheer for the Saints. (The evil refs robbed them! Where were the police??)

But... the Rams? Meh... Maybe a few of the Hollywood celebrities care, but I don't.

I like Tom Brady (He grew up in a town near me where I believe his parents still live) and I want to see how long he and his Patriots crew can keep up all this winning. (I'd have loved to see Brady vs Brees, each one hobbling out there on his walker.)

The Rams and their coach are all young and they will get to the Super Bowl again. No need to worry about them.

So I'm gonna be cheering for the Patriots. (If Harry Potter doesn't like them, that's enough to convince me that I do.)

What makes a team a dynasty?

As of 1 minute ago Las Vegas has the Patriots at -2.5. The over/under is 56. I'm taking the under for $10.

"Defense wins championships" (a quotation attributed to so many people it's a bit silly to list a name)

That may be, or maybe not. Patty Mahomes, should he decide to take the Brady route and not insist on making the most of any QB anywhere, so maybe they can keep the horses they have and add something to that horrific D, I could see him and the Chiefs putting together quite a string. Heck, they'd probably be out there tonight if it weren't for a coin toss. He made Belichick look pretty bad and Brady look pretty average in that 4th quarter: 24 points for young Mahomes there at the end. Nobody was stopping anybody at that point--it was all about the coin toss. The Pats are a great dynasty, no doubt, probably the greatest in NFL history (though there's something to be said for going 5 - 0 in Superbowls during a dynasty run, like the 49ers did), but it all pales by comparison to that other great team from the Boston area, the Celtics. Tom Brady's nothing compared to Bill Russell, 13 NBA championships played, 11 wins, including EIGHT STRAIGHT (Russell also won two NCAA championships at USF). THAT's a dynasty that may never be equaled.

Some of the Super Bowl ads are already out, and they have a distinctly "tech" tone.

Don't click on these if you want to watch them during the game. But here they are if you want to go get something to eat or go to the bathroom during halftime.

Michelob: Robots may be better than you at many things, but you can drink Michelob and they can't.

Pringles has the same concept: Your digital assistant knows more than you, but you can eat Pringles and it can't.

Amazon parodies some imaginary epic fails associated with putting Alexa in everything, including one where a small dog's digital dog collar responds to its incessant yapping with "ordering dog food!" over and over (and Harrison Ford warns the dog that he better cancel all those orders). The commercial ends with a big Amazon truck arriving at Harrison Ford's house and unloading pallets of dog food.

That’s why I specified “NFL dynasty”.

In any case, I’m obviously a Celtics fan, but I don’t think you can compare the NBA of the 50’s & 60’s to today’s NFL. Free agency, the salary cap, & luxury tax all make it exceedingly difficult to field a consistent winning team in the NFL these days.

BTW, I’m not sold on Mahomes long-term. It will be interesting to see how he performs next year, after 31 defensive coordinators have had time to study the film all off-season.

I'll say one thing about Pat Mahomes, he flat outplayed Brady in the AFC Championship game. Just sayin.

The outcome is still uncertain but it's pretty clear that I'm going to win my bet.
