The students' first mistake was thinking that online MBA rankings matter because they don't. What's interesting is that Temple possibly also violated AACSB and their regional accreditor's standards.

In the end, these students lucked out because they received a free, AACSB-accredited MBA even though it didn't deserve AACSB accreditation.

Help me to understand something. Is it only online MBA rankings that don't matter or other online program rankings as well?

For anyone who has completed an online degree at a traditional, brick and mortar college, think of one's behavior. Do you put on your resumes and cover letters that you went to school online? Do you announce during an interview that you went to school online without being asked? Or, do you hope that employers won't be able to tell that you went to school online? How can one benefit from online degree rankings when one doesn't even reveal that he or she went to school online?

Ok. So when you recommended SHSU and ASU for online criminal justice programs, was this based on their actual online rankings of #1 and # 5 respectively, according to the U.S. News? Or was this based on the schools' criminology rankings of #20 and #5? In either ranking (online and traditional), these schools are deemed to be "good" choices for criminal justice/criminology. Could it be that the Temple MBA students were also considering that Temple's traditional business school was well-ranked prior to the scandal?

My recommendations weren't based on the online rankings.

All I know is what I read from the articles since I don't know any Temple business students. The online business degree students believe that the online degree ranking scandal devalues their online degrees. I suspect, though, that neither their transcripts nor diplomas say "online."

While I think rankings, for the most part are bs, why is it that you think Embry-Riddle (a traditional college) couldn't outrank a virtual school like PSU World Campus?

Because PSU World Campus is not a standalone institution like Colorado State University Global Campus, EVersity of University of Arkansas, or University of Maryland University College.

Correct. PSU World Campus diplomas say “The Pennsylvania State University” just like their on campus programs. It does not distinguish the “Global Campus” aspect.

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought it was a standalone like CSU Global and the likes. Never mind!
