Well, let's be clear. He was fired.

Maybe Whitaker will do something about the squadristi that are now terrorizing people like the Tucker Carlson family.

That would be a matter for the local police wouldn't it? Not the Attorney General of the USA. What we can be pretty sure of is that Whittaker will continue to be a Trump sock puppet and he'll do whatever he's told to do.

Crossing state lines makes it federal, as well.

Did you call Eric "Wingman" Holder a sock puppet?

""I’m still enjoying what I’m doing, there’s still work to be done. I’m still the President’s wing-man, so I’m there with my boy. So we’ll see," Holder said in an interview on the Tom Joyner radio show."

You always try to deflect the focus of the conversation. This is not about Holder, Obama, Clinton or any of the other people you dislike. If you'd like to start a thread on Eric Holder you can do so. Sessions was fired by Trump because he wouldn't follow Trump's orders. Whittaker will do whatever he's told to do. That's just the simple truth.

No deflection. Presidents choose AGs and none choose antagonists. Trump was misled to choose Sessions who immediately recused himself from the most important matter being handled by the DOJ.

Sessions, as much as I disliked him, was trying to do the job of the Attorney General. Trump wants the AG to be his personal lawyer. There was absolutely no question that recusing himself from the Russia investigation was the ethical thing to do. No question. However, Trump cares nothing for ethics and was only interested in having Sessions kill the investigation and protect himself in the process. "Where's my Roy Cohn?" Trump thinks he's found his Cohn-clone. Let's see how long he lasts.

I thought the AG was the Presidents to command? I might be wrong but if you have an employee they do what you say? Its almost comical to think you or anyone else believes that Holder or Lynch didn't follow Obama orders.

Stop being dishonest as well. Trump did not fire him, he asked him to resign. Sessions could have said no and then Trump would have to fire him...huge difference.

This federal law would seem to apply:

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/241

The right of free speech is a Constitutionally protected Civil Right, right up there with freedom of the press. That includes the right to support the elected President of the United States and the United States government, and to advocate for policies that a mob of rioters dislike.

Under Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, the Department of Justice functioned as the enforcement arm of the Democratic party. I think that we can be sure that they listened very closely whenever they got calls from the Obama oval office. There was always a blizzard of federal lawsuits coming from the DOJ to support this or that Democratic agenda item. Even when the feds weren't directly involved, they would often intervene in state cases anyway, by filing 'friend of the court' briefs.

Jeff Sessions displayed by his (in)action that he was incapable (or unwilling) to exert any real management authority over rebellious "resistance" figures in the agencies that he supposedly headed. Sessions served as a figurehead while the layer of bureaucrats immediately below him behaved as if they had no superiors and were answerable to no one. Now hopefully those people will finally get a boss. Give them a direct order to do something they don't like, and if they fail to respond then immediately terminate them for insubordination or incompetence.

What's more, I'd really like to see another special prosecutor appointed, aimed at the Democrats. (There's no end of possible felonies to provide initial justification.) I think that these special prosecutors are a bad idea, dangerous and too easily abused. But that Rubicon has already been crossed. If we are going to have one special prosecutor operating an open-ended fishing expedition against political enemies, we might as well have them directed both ways.

Sessions shouldn't have accepted the job just to duck out on the most important issue to come before him.

Yeah but that's not the same as doing things that are illegal or unethical. The reason Sessions got fired was because he was being told to do things that even he, as one of the most conservative Politicians in the country, knew were wrong. The AG works for the country, not the President.

You really do have the habit of asking questions that you already know the answers to.

No one here is talking about Holder, Lynch, or Obama. Either way, don't make the incorrect assumption that someone who doesn't like the Trump administration must have liked the Obama administration.

What's dishonest is pretending there's a "huge difference" between the two.

Oh, there are plenty of answers, but if you don't know the history of this troubled relationship then your opinion is remarkably uninformed. In that case any position you might have in this discussion is based on nothing but what, fantasy?
