That Weekly World News is the one that used to have the batboy, right?

Except for the fact that apparently there are lots of people, not as level headed as yourself, who take his drivel seriously. That makes him something other than harmless.

Alex Jones and InfoWars are cancer, but this is a cure worse than the disease. The last thing the world needs is for executives at giant corporations to decide what people can see based on whatever they find fashionable or advantageous. This situation only highlights the importance of moving to decentralized open social media platforms, like Mastodon.

It's possible to be even less level headed than I am?!
    Yes.

I remember seeing a show in the late 90s where WWN showed the actual process by which they made their stories. Sometimes, they just made it up with no source, such as the bat boy, and sometimes they went out and interviewed nutjobs who believed they were impregnated by intergalactic lizard people, and the like.

Here's some good news- just like Tupcac Shakur, Weekly World News is still alive!!! http://weeklyworldnews.com/headlines/7996/tupac-is-alive/

It went out of print over a decade ago, but the website is booming.

I'm not really all that familiar with Infowars.

When I look at it, most of it seems to be the same news that's being reported elsewhere or opinion that's at the very least defensible. So I'm inclined to take much of it seriously. Certainly as seriously as I take outlets like Huffington Post. I'm inclined to see Infowars as kind of the mirror image of things like that. So... why am I wrong?

    https://www.infowars.com/

What justifies all the over-heated invective that we see in this thread? "Lunatic", "drivel", "cancer"... That's pretty strong and frankly, over-the-top.

Can any of you point to anything on Infowars that you believe truly justifies your epithets?

I'm no fan of HuffPo, but what's their equivalent to this?

Alex Jones, the great stain on Austin, peddles in conspiracy theories that mentally ill and low-IQ individuals take seriously. Huffington Post would never claim that a mass shooting that killed little kids was a hoax.

Jones doesn't believe the stuff that he says. He's a snake oil salesman, literally. He sells a bunch of weird, junk products to his followers.

Private companies can do whatever they want in limiting access regardless of how big they are. I wouldn't want that trash on my website either. He's free to start his own social media platform or go to another one. Freedom of speech doesn't apply to private entities.

That Jade Helm thing was stupid, and Texas' idiot governor fell for it wasting taxpayer dollars to send the unarmed Texas State Guard to monitor the U.S. military.

I think it might be useful to point out that it's not Infowars that is being sued, it is Jones. It is easy to find any number of outrageous things said by Alex Jones including the comments re Sandy Hook. Do you also find these to be "defensible?"

I only watched the first bit. Is this guy a radio personality as well as a website? (I don't listen to talk radio.)

Jones was certainly ranting. But I don't have any great objection to calling Hillary a "demon". She is. This is an actual un-retouched photo:

Seriously though, it's certainly less objectionable to call Hillary a "demon" than to call President Trump a "nazi", a "fascist", "Hitler", "Mussolini", "racist", "bigot" or any of the other names he's called every day in the ostensibly "quality" media.

Nobody is going to take the "demon" thing literally, while countless people take the things said about the President seriously. And people get hurt when the "Antifa", all fired up with their invincible self-righteousness (much as Hitler's brown-shirts once were) come with fists and bludgeons for those they believe are fascists, people who are merely trying to exercise their Constitutional rights of speech and assembly that are necessary to the continued functioning of democracy.

If Hilary is a demon, then Trump is the Antichrist.

Someone almost got killed because of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory peddled by right wing media. Alex Jones and Infowars were a part of that nonsense.
