IIT Delhi to fund international PhDs, aiming to hike global rankings

    As was discussed in another thread, recruiting foreign students is more than cost recovery. Prestige, is an important factor. If ITT can pull this off then good for them.

    I looked at the figures. $407 a month plus a pad is pretty small samosas - even in India. In my home town, PhD students in high-value fields can often wangle a stipend of about $40K Canadian annually. That's over $8 a week US! :)

    I'm told the entry to middle-class city living (200 million plus) in India starts nearer to 3 times that $407.

    Actually, ITT schools were shuttered on Sept 6, 2016 - ten days BEFORE the bankruptcy filing on Sept. 16th 2016. Sorry.
