• Enable the Copperbelt University to expand its revenue base through growth in distance learning student numbers within the framework of remodeling income generation.
• Deliver a world class set of distance learning programmes both through a blend of face to face delivery on one hand and one hundred percent online delivery on the other.

 

I went to the distance page - and yes, they take Non-Zambian applicants. Could only find 4 courses. Are these all the distance offerings? One B.A. - Local Government Administration. Three Diplomas - Local Government Admin., Paralegal and Teaching Methodology. The day-school offerings are quite extensive, so maybe I'm missing something here. I was unable to find the cost. Do you know the distance fees, or anything re: other distance courses available, Phdtobe?

Right - they do. By some kind of reverse logic, I went directly to "distance education" rather than "programmes / distance education." Tsk-tsk. What a fool I am! (But you knew that, right? )

Costs: about 3-4 times the domestic rate for foreigners. That seems OK to me. Your decimal point appears to be wrong by 3 places, Phdtobe. According to XE Currency Exchange, 1 Zambian Kwacha = around 10 cents US. So 1,000 K would be around $100, not 10 cents as you wrote. I have to believe the fee schedule is for the entire program, not per semester. If so, for foreigners, degree programs cost from roughly 60,000 Kwacha to about 73,000. That's around $6,000 to $7,300 US. (Most expensive is engineering).

Domestic students pay roughly 1/4 of this; as I said, that sounds reasonable.

 

Being a foriegn student in Zambia could be a cool thing to do. The prices may not be competitive for distance learning. The University of Lusaka has doctorates at usd16k, but the University of Lusaka is private.

Pretty interesting. BTW - I believe if you are a non-Zambian, you will pay foreign fees on campus - not the cheaper domestic ones. I doubt there's any savings over distance study - unless it's in cheaper living costs in Zambia.

 

As previously discussed, only the PhD in Organizational Behavior is available online. Unless foreign students pay more for online study (I didn't see anything) , it may be the Holy Grail of PhDs cost-wise after all! Per the chart, tuition for the entire three year program is around 360,000 Kenyan shillings (127K per year plus incidentals). That's about $3,571 US in total, or about $1,200 per year. You need a relevant Master's, minimum GPA of 3.00 to get in.

 

Pan Africa Christian University, Christian in the name may be a turn off for many people, at least for me.

 

Right - and don't call me one, either. But there are 2.2 billion people on this planet who say they are Christians - more than any group who say they're of some other faith. So ... not for you or me, maybe, but there's a B-I-G marketplace among folks who wouldn't mind that label at all.

If I assumed wrong and you are one - why would you mind the Christian label - on you or your degree?

 

I grew up a Christian but that was because of slavery, colonisation, and parents. At this moment in time, I am a non-believer in the Christian god.

Liberia has played an interesting role in the history of diploma mills and this board. Because of that I'm not sure I could consider a Liberian university, however unfair that might be.

 

I am responding to this with a smile because I previously ignored it because it was not a big deal. But I could be extremely judgmental and take that post out of context to be an attribution to Liberians.
