Greetings, experiential experts, I have not posted here in years, but it is time to restart. I have done a sort of theoretical-historical research project which yielded me a dissertation of about 250+ pages. I know that it is a pretty good product, and it has not been published or used in any way. I would like to submit it (with the usual necessary modifications) to earn a PhD. The general area of the thesis is existential psychology and religious practice. Having said, any ideas of credible colleges or universities any where in the world whose processes are amenable or friendly to something like this? Essentially, I am asking about a PhD by thesis option with a dissertation already done. Any ideas or contacts? Looming forward to comments. Regards, Kenneth
Well well! Welcome back Kenneth! I wonder whether the answer would really be much different from when you were active here before. People will still probably suggest finding History faculty members at Commonwealth or Continental schools who have an interest in whatever topic you've been researching, reaching out to them directly, and using their interest as a way to navigate your way into admission. Given your degree from NMMU, you already know the drill....
Hi Kenneth - In general, universities require a minimum period of enrollment of 2-3 years. During that time you would be taking course (in the American system) or working on your dissertation (in the continental system). I'm pretty sure that no one is going to simply accept your pre-written dis and then hand you a PhD. If they accept your proposal you will have to produce a piece in the form they require and, typically, your assigned dissertation advisor will want to leave his/her fingerprints all over every page. Advice? Find the grad schools with some faculty who have an interest in Existential Psychology (maybe Saybrook?) and go hunting for an advisor. Best of luck.

As to my query, I suppose, I was asking if anyone on the forum has personal experience with any faculty member at any reputable university who might be interested in my area.
