Do you have a preferred potential perp? My money (but not a lot of it) would be on Louis Joseph Myers.

I've been hooked on the Zodiac since seeing the Unsolved Mysteries episode on the case, speculating that he and the Unibomber might be the same person, way back when it aired on TV. (I marvel at such facts as this: almost as much has passed since that episode aired than had passed at that time since the Zodiac went silent.)

There's a lot to unpack with Zodiac, which is why his legend endures while more prolific killers barely get any attention. However, he wasn't really that clever nor calculating. He boasted much bigger scale than he could ever actually pull off, was extremely sloppy, was a poor writer and was terrible at cryptography. How the case was never solved is a maddeningly fortuitous string of missed chances.

On a tangential note, it really feels wrong to take so much for interest in true crime for entertainment purposes. However, I suppose it's actually for the best since it keeps cold cases alive and is sometimes a leading factor in the ultimate service of justice.

This general sentiment would seem to intersect with the Son of Sam Law.

Was traveling across the state the other week and finally listened to the S-Town Podcast, which has been raved about for a few years. Wow, I was taken back with how well it was produced and the journey that the journalist took. Highly recommended, and would also advise... don't read up about it... just stream/download, and start playing... also, give the poor guy a hug.
