When the GOP’s proposed overhaul of the nation’s health-care laws was near death in the House in March, President Trump rallied 10,000 supporters in downtown Nashville and reassured his party’s base.

“It’s going to be fine,” Trump told the audience about 25 minutes into his speech. “We’re going to all get together. We’re going to get something done.”

"But in the four months since, Trump has done relatively little to make it happen. The president has treated health care and a host of other legislative agenda items, from taxes to infrastructure, as issues to be hammered out by lawmakers with often-scant direction from the executive branch — and with decidedly mixed signals from Trump himself."

    Not going so well.

He has started his biggest promise aka the wall and the most important thing he has done is stepped up deportations of illegals. Gloves are off and agents are under orders to deport any illegal they come across! Yea!

That's all? It's been six months. The health care bill isn't looking to good either.

Most Constitutionalists (and conservatives) want Obamacare to be completely repealed. Dump it. Don't leave any vestige of it. It's communism/socialism.

Those who elected President Donald J. Trump do not need to be "sold" on his agenda because it is fully embraced by the electoral voters who put him in office.

Obamacare didn't pass the House until October 8, 2009 and didn't pass the Senate until December 24, 2009. Then those two bills entered into the reconciliation process and Obama didn't sign the result into law until March 23, 2010.

So even if his goal was to out-race Obama, Trump still has time left.

I think that the idea that Obamacare repeal-and-replace not being completed yet is a huge failure for the Trump administration is an example of fake news, coming in this case from the Washington Post. It's an illustration of what the W.P.'s editors and writers want their readers to think.

And the idea that this supposed huge failure is going to damage Trump's support among his base is ludicrous. They can see the obvious, that Trump is the only politician out there speaking to their issues. They can see the bizarre and insane "resistance" that his admistration is constantly being subjected to. (Unprecedented in US history and very corrosive of democracy itself. I'm not convinced that American democracy will survive this.)

So the democrats and the media are providing Trump and his administration with all the excuses that he needs to hang onto voters disappointed by any failure to pass their favorite parts of his election platform. Where else are those voters going to turn? To the democrats? Democrats have shown zero interest in speaking to moderate and conservative voters and offering them a more attractive alternative to Trump. They surrendered the white lower-middle class with a bored shrug. They only seem to be interested in transvestites, identity-politics and in rioting in the streets.

MSM's shrinking audience of diminishing returns

And the barrage of MSM lies, disinformation and fraudulent news pisses off conservative Americans, while the leftist/communistic owners of the MSM squeal in piggly joy, as they broadcast their fraudulent news to a shrinking audience of diminishing returns.

On the one hand, it's not like media outlets aren't doing this. But on the other hand, when McConnell can't get a bill though the Senate, that's not just the Washington Post talking.

Nancy Pelosi didn't manage to get Obamacare through the House until October. Harry Reid didn't get it through the Senate until December. This is July.

If the news media really wanted to inform the public, they would report on why the Republicans who aren't currently supporting the proposed bill aren't supporting it. What are their issues? If their issues are good and it's a bad bill, then voting against it wouldn't be a bad thing. It takes time to work this stuff out.

Eh, except he promised to accomplish this his first month in office. "Maybe day 1".

It helps to make your writing sound good when you can make unsupported extraordinary claims. Unprecedented in the history of Internet; I'm not convinced Internet can survive them.

Interesting how this is said about a politician who sold himself as a most yugely brilliant dealmaker of unsurpassed intelligence. Curious how he needed excuses ("cover") immediately after gaining office. BTW, Democrats won the national popular vote 6 times out of 8 lately.

A weak claim, since it requires counting pluralities. If the popular vote actually mattered, pluralities would require a run off, as there is in France.

Good enough to undermine the bizarre claim that Reps or Trump alone represent "the people".

    Keeping America Great!

Stanislav, in the United States, "representatives" and the president represent the American people. Conversely, they do not represent foreigners (such as yourself), nor do they represent Ukrainians or Russians. However, thank you for your genuine interest in the United States and our Constitutional form of government. Please continue to pay close attention to our political process because you may learn some things that you can implement in your own country. There are many foreigners (to include you) who are envious of the American system -- and rightly so! Also, please ignore Ruth Bader Ginsburg's comment that the Untied States Constitution is outdated and that it allegedly cannot handle the demands of the 21st Century. Lastly, keep America great!

Again with the foreigner thing? As if a foreigner can't have an opinion in our American Politics? You usually resort to this tired ol line with Stanislav gets the better out of you in an argument, and this line is your fall back. I would certainly say that Stanislav knows more about American politics than you and I combined. I am surprised you haven't injected a bunch of bible quotes in the mix about how Trump was sent by the angels or something. Remember what the bible says about worshiping false idols? Plus, what makes it more ridiculous is Trump is no Christian.

Give up the lame line of defense already. It's lame.

Abner, did God gift you with the supernatural ability to see inside a man's heart to accurately determine if he is or is not a bonafide Christian -- without ever meeting or talking to him? The Apostle Paul arranged for Christians to be killed -- and yet he ended up writing half the New Testament! Be careful about judging people that you've never met "before the appropriate time" (1 Cor 4:5).

God gave me the gift/brain to read someone like Trump for what he is, a small, petty, greedy man who only worships money and women/pussy (vulgar to boot as well). It won't be up to me to judge him ultimately, it will be up to my heavenly father. He and he alone will have to answer for his sins. He is certainly not the picture of moral values or of any true Christian that I know of. Thank God he will probably be gone after this term at the rate he is going. As a Christian, I see Trump is incapable of admitting mistakes and asking for forgiveness. So he is not a true Christian in that respect either even if he claims to be a Christian. I am glad I am not him.

How would you know that he "is incapable of admitting mistakes and asking for forgiveness"?
Do you actually believe what those 15 seconds clips you hear and read are the full representation of the individual?
Or, that you have the expertise and deep insight to be able to put all those snippets together and draw such deep conclusions of a man's character?
Yes, by his fruit, but have you seen "all" his fruit? You have spent time with the man in and out of the limelight?
Furthermore you write "won't be up to [you] to judge him", yet you end your note with "he is not a true Christian". Make up your mind, will you, or will you not stamp him that he is not a "true Christian"? The word is krino - that is not our job.

To the OP - "Trump says he wants victories — but he isn’t selling the GOP agenda to voters" - what is the establishment GOP agenda?

Because the flyover country has no patience for these "Democrat lights" . . . I have work to do.

Abner, if President Trump is incapable of asking God for forgiveness, then he cannot be saved. Abner, it is truly amazing that God has given you the supernatural ability to determine who can be saved and who cannot be saved, based upon the heavenly gifts that God is giving you.
