No, He is too. I do not put any stock in these news stories though.

Bernie and Jane Sanders, under FBI investigation for bank fraud, hire lawyers - CBS News

"I filed a request for an investigation in January 2016 and an investigation appears to have been started right away," he said in an email to CBS News. "It was started under President Obama, his Attorney General, and his U.S. Attorney, all of whom are Democrats."

    He was stealing Hillary's thunder.

Wifey should be investigated for her activities at Burlington.

Jane for plundering money from the college and ol' Bernie "We are living in a nation which worships wealth rather than caring for the poor. I don't think that is the nation we should be living in" Sanders is under investigation for allegedly pressuring the bank to give his wife a loan based on her falsified loan documents.

What's messed up is he probably knew they were false. Much like with America and socialism, they think they know better than us. Had to force the staff and admins to go along, had to force the banks...I see a pattern.

You're right, it's messed up. It's possible that he did know what was really happening and I hope that the investigation moves along quickly. That sad part is that it leaves people with the clear sense suspiciousness, the feeling that you can't trust anyone.

Meh, investigation all around. Nothing really ever comes from any of them. Look at Hillary, and Trump, and Sanders, and Lynch, and Flynn, and on and on and on. More to come I'm sure.

If she really did play fraudulent games with collateral to obtain a multi-million dollar loan which was subsequently defaulted upon, she is absolutely a fraudster and could face the rest of her life in prison. I teach this stuff, this is about the only thing in the world in which I have some expertise. If it's all a fabrication, she should sue her accusers for libel and should win big time.

Well she did lie, that's a fact. She told them the money was there and it wasn't. All the sellers wanted was to insure the land was to remain protected.

This is another reason people dislike the news media.

No she lied and said she had received the 2.6 million. Huge freaking difference? Idk but that seems really dishonest to me.

I haven't been paying attention to the details of this case but it's possible that it rests on that distinction.

Not defending Jane - but no, she didn't say she "had" the money. She did say, however, that the college would receive it - and it didn't. Here it is AGAIN, from another source.

"The loan was granted and the purchase was then made based on Ms. Sanders’s assurance that the college would receive millions of dollars in pledged donations that it would use to repay the loan, according to Mr. Dunn and reports by VTDigger and other Vermont news organizations. But some of the pledges turned out to be overstated, and enrollment did not increase."

When the donations fell short of the $2.6 million promised by Ms. Sanders, she was forced to resign in 2011. Financially strained, the college closed last year.[/QUOTE]

Basically - Jane said she had donors lined up to pay at least the $2.6 million in short order. Sufficient donations didn't happen. Did she over-state? Did donors renege? Both? Your call, but she never had the money - or said she had it in hand. She also said there would be funds from increased college enrolment; that never happened either. She's definitely guilty of over-optimism. What else? We'll have to wait and see, I guess.
