Just saw this awkward sentence at UMUC:

If you are pursuing a second bachelor's degree, you can't use standardized examination credit to satisfy the requirement for graduation that courses be taken at UMUC.

    Credit by Exam | UMUC

Is that limitation common? Not that I'm sure what they mean but is that common?

A few year ago WES.com evaluated me as having three undergraduate degrees. Excelsior looked at that info and told me I could not do another undergrad with them by testing out.

My understanding, as far as that goes, is that the US RA standard is to allow two bachelor's degrees in unrelated fields. A third may be allowed but that would be unusual. If that's so then I'd be surprised if you were allowed a fourth undergraduate degree by any means.

I've asked in this forum if DEAC imposes a limit on the number of undergraduate degrees but without reply.

I wanted a degree in business/psychology from the US
My Cdn 3-year college in business according to Wes was an associate degree
My Cdn bachelor degree in management according to Wes was a bachelor degree
And most surprising my Cdn accounting designation according to Wes was equivalent to Bsc in accounting

Excelsior said no to my application

I believe Excelsior has a three bachelors degree limit, period. One has to petition for a third degree, and it has to be significantly different from your other degrees.

Excelsior may be a special case:

-Limited resources may force Excelsior to strictly adhere to outside agencies like WES for some things rather than assess applicants individually.

-In addition to their own rules are those of the accreditor and of New York State.

Massachusetts is an adjoining state but with a different accreditor and possibly with different state rules. And they have Bruce, if that matters.

APUS moved its headquarters to West Virginia to be under a different accreditor so these things do obviously matter.

I think they are (poorly) explaining that the residency requirement can't be tested out of.
"You can't use standardized exam credit to satisfy the requirement for graduation." "Those (not that) courses (insert: must) be taken at UMUC."

That may be the recipe, Cook, but I can't be sure. And it's interesting that they buried that behind what may not be recognized as a link. Not a link to another page but to an addendum right below the link.

I think it important for aspiring students to know what they will and will not be able to do with their credit-by-exam stuff. About that, the people of this forum should be as knowledgeable as any but this topic would seem to be a void.
