They were discussed many times on this forum years ago -- their accreditation situation, their curious "approval" by the University of Liverpool, etc. They are in the news today because their Newburgh campus has been foreclosed and the buildings are being auctioned off at the Warrick County Sheriff's auction on July 7. The school has moved to a rented office in Evansville and is now 100% online.

Thank you Kizmet. It is wistful to be reading Janko, Grover, and Dayson again, even if posthumously (or post-disappearously, whichever).

It seems to be a respected school in SBC circles. Not on the same level as the "Big Six" but about on par with Luther Rice.

If you say so. However, Luther Rice is accredited by ABHE and TRACS. Trinity is accredited by .... um,

Luther Rice is ABHE and Tracs accredited whereas Trinity holds no accreditation recognized by the Dept. of Education. Seems like a significant difference in level to most.

It is not respected in anyway shape or form. This is a joke.

If the auctioneer looks behind a few doors he may come across a few boxes of those shiny University of Liverpool stickers. I would love to have one for posterity's sake.

    That could be true.

I always considered this particular Trinity to be part of the upper tier of unaccredited schools, something more than a mill. It seemed to have real faculty (at least one fairly well known) and offered real classes. So in that respect I kind of liked it and wouldn't be totally dismissive of its degrees.

My only real objection to it was what I considered its misleading accreditation claims, the Liverpool stickers in particular.

AND maybe a NAPNSC accreditation cert, not recognized by CHEA/USDoE. AND those Canterbury Christ Church University "endorsements." AND some University of Wales "validations." AND maybe a decline letter from an RA accreditor...and one from a NA accreditor, also. AND perhaps a secret decoder ring, I dunno. It was a long story....

Misleading claims are often the worst thing (for themselves) that schools can indulge in - yet so many do.

Perhaps a Latin motto for schools that self-harm - i.e. suffer the slings and arrows of their own outrageous claims:

Semper docemus. Numquam discemus. (We always teach. We never learn.)

    J.

Water Rat: "That'll teach 'em." (Stoats, weasels et al.)
Badger: "No, Ratty - we want to learn 'em, not teach 'em. Learn 'em!"
Toad: (Rushing around the room with his cudgel.) "And WHACK 'em and WHACK 'em and WHACK 'em!"

Just noticed, three years later - The motto should be Numquam discimus. Not "discemus" Apologies for the error. - J. :)

"Bless me, Father, for I have erred. It has been sixty years since my last Latin class."
