Stupid Liberals

I have said before that I am a liberal Democrat and I'm not backing away from that. But a couple of things have happened recently that have made me say, "stupid Liberals . . . :grumble: . . . "

The first one is actually happening right this minute. Ann Coulter was scheduled to speak at Berkeley and the students said they'd riot (or whatever) if she actually showed up. So maybe you can excuse the kids because they're just stupid kids (I don't excuse them, they should just behave themselves and either don't bother to attend the speech or simply learn to tolerate an alternative point of view) But the school, the ones who originally scheduled the speech, are backing down and cancelling the speech. Spineless weasels. They should let the speech occur as scheduled and be clear about their expectation that people act in a civil manner. We'll see what happens.

The second on is about "liberal media bias." In 2012 the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup and their goalie, Tim Thomas, refused to attend the ceremonial visit to the Obama White House. He was totally crucified in the press for weeks. Lots of bad things were said about him. Now fast forward to this week. The NE Patriots go to the Trump White House and virtually nothing is said about the fact that almost half the team refused to go. All of a sudden it's ok to beg off if you don't like the President.

    Idiots.

They should have let Coulter speak. Also, whoever threatened to protest, assuming they are indeed liberals, are indeed dumb: this only gives the witch additional credibility without providing actual challenge. Either don't attend or attend and confront her in person, using words and an inside voice.

Quite frankly, I don't blame Patriots for refusing to meet this President.

"We can't guarantee your/anyone's safety" is the new liberal code phrase to silence speech they don't agree with. That, along with imposing ridiculous fees and other burdens on conservative groups, is a thinly-veiled tactic to silence the opposition.

I don't know how these people can look at themselves in the mirror.

Anyway, Coulter has called their bluff, and is speaking on the original date of April 27th whether the school likes it, or not.

    As for the Patriots visit to the White House, more selective censorship and outright lies from the leftist propaganda machine masquerading as journalists;

More people who I don't understand how they stand their own reflections.

It's exactly this kind of violent, childish tantrum-throwing, and the news media's continued refusal to be even a little bit honest about Donald Trump, that's going to give this goofball a free ride to another 4 years.

How can they not see that?

I don't mind that some of the Pats didn't go to the White House. I don't even think they should have to explain their reasons. But then they shouldn't have trashed Tim Thomas for not going.

It really is an interesting cause and effect that is missed by so many. Any and all of these events are essentially campaign/re-election adds for anyone running as the "Law and Order" candidate (well, as long as there is a continued promise to "get tough").

Well, I missed Tim Thomas controversy... but likely his REASONS not to go were not exactly legit. Regardless, he certainly is entitled to go or not go to WH, and to hold weird ass beliefs, so if it indeed rose to the level of "trashing", that was indeed dumb. I felt the same way about the late Rob Ford, disaster as he was, not attending Toronto Pride. I'm glad new mayor attended, but if the guy wants to spend the long weekend at his cabin, leave him alone.

In conservative mythology, "the Left" are simultaneously a small bunch of weak freaks and this major force with power to "silence" anyone. The admins should have allowed her to speak; it's not like that serially shark jumping has been is a threat to anyone. Nevertheless, in a country where the Right controls a majority of state governments, all branches of federal government, and major media outlets, it is not "silenced". It just whines about being "silenced".

It is not clear that the goals of "anarchists" or "Antifa" have anything to do with electoral politics, or anything, really, except finding excuses to cause some trouble.
In this way, it almost does not matter what their ideology is. I read an article about a bunch of skinheads and Antifa in Ukraine (polar opposites in declared views, and who clashed with each other repeatedly) channeling their skills by joining the same volunteer battalion to fight Russian-backed separatists. The main difference between groups appeared to be which soccer club they support; for many "ideology" is just an excuse to fight, and ignored when an excuse is not needed and there's a real war.

Liberals are not stupid. However, a conservative TV commentator noted that mental health issues may be involved when alleged liberals make publicized TV statements like the following:

"Those who speak against our agenda should be stopped by violence." [sic]
(that against the U.S. Constitution and is a tactic of the Nazi brown shirts)

"If [thus and such a person] speaks at a public event, then they are responsible for violence or rioting that occurs." [sic]
(in criminal law, the person who commits battery is responsible for his actions)

"President Trump is responsible for the rioting in Venezuela." [sic]

The comments are being made by journalists in mainstream news outlets. The MSM has become a part of the problem and it is going to take a while to clean-up the lost-integrity of the MSM (but it will happen).

I notice that you continue to advocate (or threaten) "clean-up of the press". Thank you for contributing to the notion that Trumpism equals dictatorship; that's really useful for brave people trying to resist.

Seriously, no "MSM" left-leaning person could convincingly construct such a smear on Trumpist regime as this Trump supporter freely offers. Thanks.

Stanislav, no one has threatened anyone at this forum.

Stanislav, the United States is not in a dictatorship.

Chlorpromazine, fluphenazine, haloperidol, loxapine, perphenazine, thioridazine, thiothixene and trifluoperazine are potential medications for those who are diagnosed with schizophrenia.

To me these seem to be unsupported accusations, possibly fabricated. If a journalist actually made such statements on-air or in print I would suggest they be reprimanded but until I see some clear evidence I'll just have to put it in the unfounded rumor category.

They sound like unbalanced statements to me. But I don't see that these sorts of extreme statements represent the views of most liberals I know.

It's irrelevant. When the headline reads "far left group" and when readers/viewers see people in masks fighting with people with American flags, an immediate assumption will be to assume some type of liberal political objective.

  18. Stanislav

So? It's a baseless assumption. In the same way, every three person "militia" group (like soldiers who murdered a guy to keep their "secrets") have some type of conservative political objective. And they actually have automatic weapons. In some cases, they DO have political agenda in the form of some incoherent rand of "taking back Washington" or "county sovereignty" or some such. Can we then blame it on President Kushner?

Then it's not President's job to "deal with the biased media". Yet you insist it is. Funny thing is, there's no indication he intends to do anything other than tweeting about the press; you make him out as a bigger dictator wannabe than he actually is (at the moment).

Stanislav, no one at this website has said that it's the American president's job to deal with a corrupt or biased media. That kind of a comment would be delusional. Can you provide a source where anyone has even remotely suggested such a thing?

Stanislav, it's difficult to assess your comments, in relation to reality. Have you ever been prescribed psychotropic medications, either currently or in the past?
