To be fair MMUST didn't make any claim of these major accreditation. It was another independent site. MMUST is fine - it is the MUSTs that are the problems

Kenyatta world ranking is not too shabby with a ranking in the low 2000s. With over 10000 plus institutions and 4000 plus in the USA being in the 2000s is not a bad place to be.

They do appear open to anyone, anywhere. There is some small diversity in their undergrad offerings. Very little diversity in their Masters level programs (all Business stuff) however, they state that the PhD (and MPhil) are available in a wide variety of subject areas. I looked for a list but didn't see one in my sprint through the site.

True. Absolutely. And sadly, I MUST inform you - MUST University is BACK. Just when you "thought it was out," Axact "pulled it back in." Yes, it's one of Pakistan's most-dreaded creations. My greatest fear: now it's back, someone will start another round of MUST jokes!

Indeed. They've been offering DL for quite a while. I hear Mauritius is pretty progressive and doing OK. I'm going to take a serious look... And "not competitive?" With whom? Is there a doctoral price-war I don't know about?
Is Walmart in on it?

The PHD and DBA were priced higher than most similar African programs. The price may be higher than a few other Western universities about us$4000 per year up to 6/8 years. The masters and Bachelors are priced with similar programs in that part of the world. Many of DIers have the common trait of looking for bargain degrees. As you know the best bargain is free and accredited.

Yes, it is. I was just joking about the price-war thing. My local uni, where I've completed two programs, waives tuition 100% for those (like me) 65 and over. Or says it does, anyway. I had very good learning experiences there, but I'm not about to jump through any more of the administration's hoops & B.S. - had enough. I liked the profs - hated the admin. people. If I go back to school again, I can pay - and jump through somebody else's hoops, I'm sure.

I am cheering for you to do that phd now instead of at age 90 or 100. No need to blow that retirement budget - $6000 over 4 year or so is not too bad of a deal. I have a beautiful granddaughter is Oshawa. I like to show-off with her. I hope we can meet for a drink when I visit there. I am in Oshawa at least twice per year

Well, maybe a bit evasive, yes. They do say, however that they are "a private international institution, not a Ugandan University" and the "accreditation" link was the only one that didn't work. I read this place as "unaccredited" in our lingo and wonder what standing a degree from here would have - if any.

Near as I can figure from the web-page, a 3-year bachelor's from here would cost around 2,250,000 Ugandan shillings - about $618!

Additional red flashing light -- They teach degrees in everything. Not a good sign in a new school.

I think Royal University combines the Mission statement of the University of Derby with the Vision and University Values of Rochester Institute of Technology quite nicely.

Hmm. I wonder if the President, who is also a Prince, has an explanation for that?

I don't think a Prince of Buganda actually needs to do any explaining himself, but it's a good question. I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation.

ROU is different, though. Sure, it's different in pretty much the same way the Open University of Sri Lanka and Nations University are different but still different.

I would appreciate it if you would expand your thinking on this. I haven't really spent any time examining the various schools on the list. There are more than I expected. The costs are so low that I am tempted to do one of those DI experiments where you pay the money, etc. just to see what happens next. A Royal Open University diploma would look pretty nice but I'm not sure if it would be more appropriate to hang it with my Wentworth diploma or my Honorary Illuminati membership certificate.
