    Dear forum members,

    I need your help!

I have a bachelor's degree in Organization and Management of Industry form the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. I'm planning to apply for MS Information Systems at Lund University in Sweden. Prerequisites for this program are that an applicant must have at least 60 credits IS-related courses. These must include
1)Foundations and Role of IS,2)Systems Analysis and Design,3)Data and Information,4)Human-Computer Interaction,5)Organisation and IS.If the applicant lacks(which I do) above-mentioned credits s/he must show motivation with CV and Motivation Letter.

I have only 2 IS-related courses-Informatics and Information Economics on my bachelor transcript. After a little bit of research I've found MTA certification-Microsoft Technology Associate which I think will help to prove my motivation for this programme. Also, I've newly been accepted to a job-Junior Operational Risk Analyst at the Central Bank which I think could be helpful.

Thus, I need an idea of what else should I get in order to assure my acceptance to this programme. I will apply next year so I have a whole year to improve my profile.

    Please,help me guys.

    Each suggestion will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think you'll get much, if any, university credit for a Microsoft certification but only Lund University can say.

    From the Lund website:

    Entry requirements

An undergraduate degree (BA/BSc) with at least 60 ECTS credits of IS related courses. These must include: 1) Foundations and Role of IS, 2) Systems Analysis and Design, 3) Data and Information, 4) Human-Computer Interaction, and 5) Organisation and IS. English 6/English course B.

Information Systems - Master's Programme (One Year) | Lund University

This is a one-year program and the 60 prerequisite IS credits are ECTS credits.

That's all I have to offer. Good luck.

    decimon,thank you for your answer.

I don't mean to gain university credits by getting MTA certificate. As I have mentioned above, because I lack required credits I have to prove my motivation for this program. That's why I am asking how can I prove my motivation? And an MTA certification is just one of the many ways that I think could be helpful. What do you think about it and what other ways can you offer?

I wish I had more to offer but I don't. The knowledge of people in this forum is mostly of North American schools. And Lund University will have the final say on what they will accept so it should be best to enquire of them.

FFS, I wish people would stop saying this to everyone who shows up with an international enquiry. All that does is dissuade people from asking further, and some of us do know a bit about this...

...for example, this is spot on. One should always take note of anything any admissions department, faculty secretary, or lecturer is willing to tell you about a program.

Also, Mahammad, it's a good thing you have a year to go, because you'd probably be better off taking as many of those courses as you can rather than trying to show your motivation in other ways. Your willingness to take them as a non-degree student just to prepare for your Lund admission should show motivation more than earning MTA, which is a very basic certification. But as Decimon said, ask them!

SteveFoerster, thank you for your consideration.

I have already emailed them, but they haven't answered. Generally, admissions team of universities avoid to answer this type of questions. That's why I'm trying my best to get info from every possible resource including forums where people who have experienced or possesses knowledge about it can advise me. Unfortuanely,I have been out of academics since 2014 so I don't have any chance(at least in my country) to get those credits. Thus,I need alternative ways.In this situation, what can you recommend me? I know that MTA is a basic IT certification, but because I don't have IT backround I thought I should start from scratch.

A guy from another forum told me to get certification in Business Analytics and System Design also, cause MTA alone would not suffice.Do you know some of the prominent Business Analytics and System Design certification? I've found IBM business intelligence certification. What do you think?

    Sorry for lots of questions.Thanks

I think there are quite a few ways to show motivation, like analyzing the courses you posted i suggest to get some data analysis/data management or business analytics type of certificate from udacity, coursera, udemy considering your background. (You will find bunch of those by simply googling the keywords). Alternatively you can get some database/data warehouse 101 sort of course to show motivation as well. Other path could be getting some networks/information assurance kind of courses to show motivation within this domain.
