In all likelihood you confuse him with me. Hope this helps.

P.S. America matters globally. It's quite possible latest Aleppo massacre happened because Kremlin feels emboldened by Trump's win. It is my best guess that the latest terrorist push in Eastern Ukraine happened for the same reason (this one directly relevant for me). That's real lives lost which are - not on Trump, he didn't do anything yet - but on his voters. Thanks guys.
One thing I believe is hard to appreciate: for many people trying to drag their country from corrupt gutter, America is the real moral role model. I know, I know, you'd say "Washington is corrupt": compared to say Moscow, or Kyin, or - I don't know - Bangui it's a veritable sterile OR. And the main argument of reactionnaires is "no, this is all a mirage, real people do not believe in 'justice for all', USA is an oligarchy just like us". So now, you elected a guy who looks, walks, talks, smells, and decorates his dwellings like a cross between African despot and Russian gangster/tycoon oligarch. He also engages in types of business deals that cause a typical non-Westerner to nod head knowingly: "we see this all the time, it's normal corrupt deal making". You just ceded most of your moral high ground and disarmed people worldwide who believe in American dream. Trump openly denies high moral ground exists and equates the Dream merely with wealth and power. Gee, thank you guys. Also, his xenophobic and anti-women quips embolden bigots worldwide. Thank God my daughters are too young and I don't have to explain "grab her by the pussy" from the most powerful man in the world. But sure, "... great again".

P.S. we have a billionaire (or close to one) President in Ukraine right now, and it causes all kinds of grief. At least he claims to have tried to set up a blind trust. The previous guy, who fled to Moscow, used the same advisor as Trump (Paul Manafort) and lived in a house decorated kind of like Trump's apartment in Trump Tower (look up "Mizhyhirrya"). It did not end well. Even that creep had the decency not to have his name on buildings: he didn't own the businesses, his son and close friends did. "Politician tycoon" is a type corrosive for the democracy. I thought Americans, out of all people, understand that. Please don't give me "he's rich therefore he will not steal" trope - tried that, it's a disaster. Literally.

As a naturalized Canadian, I know people feel like this matters, but can't understand why.

Sure. But why was it asked in the first place? Shouldn't we judge people by less random things?

Your county might be random to you, but I believe in mine and will fight to the death for it.

11 months is not a"few". The Constitution says nothing about time. You guys have done something unprecedented and you can't expect things to go back to normal just like that. Also someone governing based on a 3 million vote minority and some ridiculous gerrymandering really shouldn't be mistaking their shenanigans for a mandate from the "American people".

I did not like either of the two criminal parties, but the Dems need to stop hating small States and learn the Electoral College is law. They can only blame themselves. Maybe stop hating blue color workers and the middle class (per Joe Biden) and they will do better.

Funny how the only party that actually cares about working folk at all "hates blue collar workers". Republicans would happily wipe out the middle class. You watch how the Republicans proceed to make the top 1 percent richer and stick it to everyone else. Do you think a billionaire president and a cabinet full of Goldman Sachs execs actually cares about you? Ha ha ha....

This is exactly why the Democrats lost; they tried to peddle the same tired old fear tactics, and for good measure, smeared everyone who dared to not bow to Hillary as racist, misogynist, homophobic, etc., etc., ad nauseum.

It didn't work this time, and it won't work in the future, people have had it. They care more about jobs and national security that transgendered bathrooms and safe spaces for college kids who are offended by everything.

Well it was the small states middle class who voted against the Dems. The fact they prefer a Billionaire to a warmonger corporate anti-blue collar Dem is sad. Just one of many reasons I left the Urban Elite Dem Cartel. I do not really care who is president as they are about the same to me. Since I have no dog in the fight I just do not care.

When the election is thrown into the House, it is done on a basis of one vote per state.

Which would have meant Trump. Seriously, that "Hamilton elector" business was an embarrassing waste of time.
