wow ~ this looks good for training in data science.

not sure how employers will look at this from an accreditation perspective.

It sounds like cash-cow program for Microsoft. Microsoft certification used to be very valuable, but recently...it seems to be a joke because of braindumps. Another draw back with MPD (Microsoft Professional Degree) is too vendor specific. Why's not Master of Professional Degree (MPD) or just Professional Degree (PD). Instead of stand alone institution, Microsoft should partner up with well known university/colleges. Therefore, at least the graduates has certain academic institution to rely on. As for me, I think Microsoft Professional Degree does not provide much valuable for employment opportunity.

I don't think so. Microsoft has had an education division for decades now, they've finally decided that they don't need a university as middleman, and I suspect they're game-changingly right.

I have to agree with Steve here. Microsoft has made great strides in wrestling back their relevance. The Microsoft Cloud along with this foray into Data Science by equipping thousands of credential hungry students will help tremendously.

Interesting side note, Microsoft's version of Hadoop in the cloud (Azure HDInsight) is a 100% complete version of the Hortonworks Distribution (HDP 2.4) .
