ONE CALENDAR YEAR? I know there are some brick and mortar ones out there. But they are not near me.

The only RA online masters that I know of is in education - Concordia University Portland.

    Thanks all.

You seem to be indicating that a Masters in any subject will suffice but the fact is, depending on your present academic credentials, you may not be eligible for all Masters programs. For example, a BA in History is not going to get you into a Masters in Engineering program. So . . . what's your background, what's your goal?

There are plenty of Master's degrees that can be finished within one year. Most of the programs I've seen (and I've seen my fair share over the past few years on this site) allow you to pick how many courses you take per semester and schedule all of your requirements to be completed in one year, if you so choose.

So, where do you go from here? A great woman once said "So... what's your background, what's your goal?" You're better off first deciding what you want your degree to be in, then looking for a program that can be completed in your time frame.

In any field? How fast do you want to work? Can you take 2 courses per month? If so, there are many available options. How about 1.5 courses per month? If so, Liberty University's MA in Executive Leadership can be done.

I normally don't look at lists like this and have made no effort to validate its contents, but a simple Google search returned the following: 25 Fastest Online Master's Degree Programs - DegreeQuery.com

Preferably, in a liberal arts or social science subject. In no particular order, Sociology, History, Political Science, English, American Studies.

I would not be adverse to a Higher Education degree. Counseling and related subjects are OK. I do not care if the college is Christian - but not far right wing.

Educational background - BA Stony Brook University (SUNY) , Clark University, first three years.

Reason? I need a masters for professional certification in my field. Secondarily, it is a personal life goal.

One of the most obvious options would be the American College of Education. Most of their programs are suited for a one year timeline. They are RA. And they are comparatively cheap.

National University has a number of online programs that may be completed in one year or less. Most of the courses are completed in one month (with some of the capstones being completed over 2 or more months). I completed undergraduate and graduate coursework at this school and I had an overall positive experience. It's a lot of work, but was doable for me (with a family and full-time job).

Are there any prestigious or well known colleges with one year masters? Are there any that are connected with brick and mortar schools?

Again, how fast/hard are you willing to work? Are you willing to take 2 courses at a time? If so, you're going to have more options available to you.

In general? Yes, of course. The MPS and M.Eng. programs at Cornell are all designed to be completed in one year of full time study. None of them are available online, however.

My point is that there are a lot of programs, perhaps some at a school local to you, that are designed to be completed in one year. But very few of them advertise themselves as one year Masters programs.

Nor are you likely to find a school of "prestige" marketing a degree program based upon its completion time. You don't go to Harvard because you can knock through a bachelors in three years. You go to Harvard because the program is top ranked and the school is very well known and very well regarded. It's the same reason you don't go onto the website of Johns Hopkins and find them running "Black Friday" tuition sales as some lesser well known schools are doing right now.

Johns Hopkins does have some interesting fully online programs that don't exactly break the bank. How about an MA in Communications for around $33K that can be completed in one year Master of Arts in Communication | Advanced Academic Programs | Johns Hopkins University Their MA Liberal Arts is even cheaper at around $25K http://advanced.jhu.edu/academics/graduate-degree-programs/liberal-arts/

They have other programs that are cheaper, some a bit more expensive, completion time is 1-5 years depending on several factors.

I don't think Harvard Extension would be possible in one year...and man that would be a grueling attempt! But one could complete the degree in less than 24 months for around $25K Graduate Degrees | Harvard Extension School

One needs to be careful with the "completed in a year" language. Some degree programs can be completed in a year but they often come with admission requirements and application deadlines that can extend the time frame considerably. If you have to take the GRE, get the letters of recommendation together, and then find out you have to wait six months to apply you may discover that you can get a degree faster with a program that takes longer but whose barrier to entry is lower.

OK. Engineering, Science, Business etc. No can do. I am asking a serious question. I have received some serious answers, but some of them seem to be either an exchange of inside jokes, or for masters in subjects for which I have neither the background not the interest.

I am really hoping to start soon and to be done within a year that it in the liberal arts, social sciences, or counseling. Am MLS degree would be fine.

Really, I'd appreciate some direction guys.

Perhaps the reason you're getting jokes or irrelevant suggestions is because the answer to your original, basic question is "no.":sigh1:

I would say the University of Edinburgh. It's like one of the top few Unis in the world. They've got an online MA in History that can be completed in 1 year. But TS wants RA and stuff, so I guess it means only US. colleges.
