    "Prestige American University"

    Site: http-colon-slashes-pau-dash-edu-dot-com

    This one claims as partners:

    (1) Paramount California U. PCU site has vanished since its name appeared on the AXACT (Pakistani degree fraud) list.
    (2) An um... outfit that lists PCU on its site as an affiliate...
    (3) West Coast University - formerly Panama, now Belize. Lots of old threads...

It seems incongruous, but the occasional school with real degree-granting authority, like St. Mark & St. John (Plymouth UK) is on the "partners" list. I have no idea of the relationship...if indeed there exists one.

This American-in-name-only school says it's fully recognized and accredited. But by whom? Very little info. Claims accreditation (meaningless) from some private Indian firm. No standing with UGC AICTE or DEB. Not NA or RA for US -despite its American-sounding name. Under accreditation / recognitions, It does display something from an outfit that PAU says will evaluate its degrees as US RA/NA equivalent.

So--let's look for said outfit on the list of NACES-approved evaluators. OMG! They're not there! So what would said equivalency mean, when I apply with a PAU degree to Harvard - or for that great job at Oracle?

Check below if you like. Do you see that "outfit" on the list? No you don't.

This reminds me of a story from a few years ago where some mill was identified as such although there was one confusing element. Their faculty page was filled with real people with real degrees from real schools. Could it be true? Contact was made with some of these "faculty members" and it was quickly determined that they knew nothing about this "school" and were surprised to see themselves listed as faculty. Their photos and profiles has simply been lifted from other spots on the web. Some stern letters were sent and the whole operation folded rather quickly.

I have created a ticket at their hosting company to alert them of this degree mill. Hopefully they will stop it.

Yes - I remember at least one incident like that. Unfortunately, some "schools" half a world away assume they're immune to stern letters - even if on a lawyer's letterhead.

Good job, DI member JackRussell. I like your thinking!

PAU is a CUFCE thingy, affiliated with the University of America. I think the Indian school is a partner of Pebble Hills University.

IIRC, Pebble Hills U. was on the Nigerian "prohibited list" -- LONG BEFORE Nigeria prohibited ALL Distance degrees. I think they had it wrongly listed as "Pebbles U." I always wondered why they never prohibited its sister school, "Bam-bam U."

I thought this is part of the Pakistan "Ivy League"? When has it setup in India?

I checked the Axact (Pakistan Degree Fraud) list, Jack. Doesn't appear on there. I can see why you'd think so, though. This place has an American-sounding name, to attract customers who want American (sounding) degrees. Not uncommon in that part of the world. I remember "Florida Green University" - that one operated out of Karachi, Pakistan a few years back.

PAU says it can get you an American RA or NA equivalency for your PAU degree. The equivalency they can provide is not from anyone on the approved (NACES) list of evaluators - so nobody has to take it at face (or any) value. I didn't know about PAU's link with Pebble Hills. Our friend mbwa shenzi has a truly prodigious knowledge of these things. Glad he's on our side!
