I have a close friend who is thinking about earning a PhD/DBA in business. He has 15+ years management experience, and wants to teach in 5 - 10 years after leaving industry. He's confident that his employer will pay for a doctorate.

His expertise is operations/supply chain (He's a manager of a factory for a global supplier in the trucking industry). I'm looking for some options for him and found a one weekend/month AACSB DBA at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater:

    https://www.uww.edu/cobe/dba

He does not want to teach at an R1, (he's done some guest lectures in my classes and he comments all the time that he'd love to teach at a "small school like Saint Francis").

I know that the AACSB option comes up from time to time - thought I would share the UW - Whitewater info. With that being said, what are some other options besides Capella, Walden, Northcentral, etc?

    Thanks!

    Shawn

“All study is therefore undertaken by distance learning, using modern communication technologies, including: web resources, online discussion forums, email, Skype, etc. Moreover, each participant has the support of a dedicated academic advisor throughout their period of studies, in addition to drawing on tutors, a possible specialist consultant and other participants in your cohort. We do not have conventional lecture or seminar classes on campus, nor do we require attendance at residencies, summer schools, or block teaching periods. This means that there is no need for overseas students to acquire a student visa, because residence in the UK is not required for study on the programme. The only mandatory attendance is at our Induction Day, which immediately precedes the start of the programme.”

additionai info, from within the same paragraph, just for those who might be interested:
"...Of course, all programme participants are welcome to visit us on campus any time they wish, whether it is to use our extensive on-campus facilities, or to meet their academic advisors and other programme staff..."

I think you had better read before posting a reply. Perhaps this time you can notice the quotation marks, who knows? Then we can decide whether there is any type of bird here and who it is.

Neverthelesss, yet another note about the Middlesex DBA: Participants are normally expected to attend the two vivas on campus, one at the end of the first year and the other at the end of the programme normally, with Skype being an option in the case of exceptional circumstances.
Hope these short details might also be helpful for those seriously considering a DBA.

It looks like USF also has a one weekend/month + online option. The inaugural cohort started January 2015. I don't see any apparent advantage over the UWW option, except that I don't know your friend's geographic location. So, maybe USF would be closer/easier for the one weekend/month travel? Just a thought.

    USF DBA

Update: Now it is I who am parroting as I just noticed USF was previously mentioned.
