John Carroll University Placed On Notice

John Carroll University placed on notice by Higher Learning Commission, which cites several problems | cleveland.com

As far as I could tell from my sprint through their site they have no DL programs of note.

 

Back, way back (as in 1980s) John Carroll was a good school. It competed against Fenn College of Engineering, until that got gobbled up by Cleveland State. All of us in Fenn were just dreaming of going o John Carroll, and when we "pumped" into them, they let us know we were not worthy...

 

I have heard John Carroll University mentioned exactly twice in my life. This would be the second occasion.

Kind of reminds me of the issues at Marywood University (another Catholic institution).

 

Perhaps they should ADD some DL programs!

I live in NE Ohio and it's a popular choice around here. One of my kids is graduating this year. This is the first I have heard of it.

I'd like to tell my daughter to alert any classmates who might be thinking about JCU.

 

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The Jesuits have been in the education business for a very long time and they have some incredibly gifted administrators in their ranks. I'm sure someone was "transferred" due to this failing but I don't think they will let one of their schools go down in flames.

It's certainly a red flag but they are hardly the first Catholic university to hit accreditation bumps and rebound.
