Is holy state university (holyuniversity.org) fake? I know that they are not regionally accredited. Any suggestion?

Hopefully others will pile on here as I do not presently have the time to go into this deeper than to simply suggest that you should stay away from this entity and make another choice, virtually any other choice.

No, it is not fake, it is STATE school. Just joking! Just keep in mind that CHURCH is separated from STATE, that bebing said stay away from it. Holy Molly, Accreditation Council for Educational Standards of Schools and Universities is a fake accrediation body.

I am not sure what's your definition of "fake".
In United States, if your degree in not from one of the Accrediting Agencies listed on the CHEA web site, then probably it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

They claim accreditation by the "Accreditation Council for Educational Standards of Schools and Universities". The "university" web site uses a very similar design to that of the "accreditor" web site. In other words, it appears to me that the "university" is fake because they apparently set up a web site of a fake accreditor to fool people into thinking they're not.

Why are you looking at this "school"? If you tell us your goals, we might be able to help you find a real school that would work better for you.

First rule of thumb: If you have to ask if it’s fake, it probably is fake.

But this brings back some memories – their street address (see their contact page) is precisely where (many many years ago) I was part of a group that used to distribute clean needles to the junkies, hookers, and hustlers in the neighborhood. (For those who know Philly, it’s Frankford & Allegheny, very close to the "K&A" section of the city.)

So, ya wanna have fun? See what’s around the fancy façade in the photo on their contact page. Go to http://maps.google.com and punch in their street address. Click on satellite view, then street view.

From that alone, you should be able to see that this “university” is a joke.

Of course it's real! Right between the House of Prayer and the Beauty Salon, check it out!

Now, I will state that I am suspicious that the original poster is simply attempting to spreading the link of this illegitimate scam. If one can search for and find a forum such as this, one can also search for "ACESSU", the supposed accrediting body listed on their site, and see that it is run by the same people who run this holy state university balogna.

    Both list 5305 Oxford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA as their address;

Both sites are also located on the same server.

The street address for the "ACESSU" accreditation agency is also in Philadelphia, about 3 miles from the street address for "Holy University". Judging from Google street view, both addresses appear to be located in similarly affordable neighborhoods.

According to whois lookups for holyuniversity.org and acessu.org, both registrations have the same contact phone number. This number is also shared by churchofrevival.org, an online church with a website similar to those of HSU and ACESSU. The street address of the church is next door to that of HSU.

    Wait a minute, wait a minute! Something's happening . . . it's a message . . . a kind of telepathic message . . . I think I'm channeling Steve Levicoff . . .

It is impossible to agree with Kizmet. Wake up America, graduates of bachelor’s degree program from “prestigious” universities have up to $120,000 in educational loans taken to cover high tuition costs, the costs that these graduates have no ability to pay. These graduates from so-called “prestigious universities” after years of job searching very often are happy to find job as secretary or cashier (search internet). Any person with average intelligence can make decision what is better, degree without any loans or a degree with lifetime student loans burden that person has no ability to pay…

Holy State University is as legitimate as any other legitimate place. It is independent international educational institution that is controlled by religious authority; accordingly, they are not reporting and are not subordinates of any secular government (this is why they can offer extremely low educational costs). Educational costs are equal almost to nothing comparing to all regular overpriced universities and nobody needs any loans to study there (with exception of people from countries with very low income). This university is not accepting any student loans from federal government because any US student can easily afford administrative fees and has no need for any loans; therefore, they can be accredited by any accrediting organization because accreditations are nothing more but only a second opinion.

Oh, yes, this site is dominated by people that are selling “opinions to the “highest bidder”, whoever pays for such opinions. They will definitely suggest a school that will help you to depart with tens of thousands of dollars that you do not have.

That just makes you sound really desperate and lame. Let's see, what makes more sense, that it's a lot of people's honest opinion that this particular institution isn't worth doing business with, or that we're a vast well-funded conspiracy trying to lure innocent students away from fantastic (and yet strangely unrecognized) institutions?

I am from the United States (not from some remote islands), I have a law degree and for that reason, I know the laws of the United States. I also know almost everything about higher education in the United States and applicability of laws to the education. It is very annoying to see when some paid shills promoting some overpriced universities by sitting here and by bullying the only place that is offering lowest cost of education in the United States. Most of fake “universities” are located in remote islands where educational regulations never existed. We have laws in the United States, not as in some other places. If something exists in the United States, such place has legitimate basis for the existence.

Hmmm. It's a little late for April Fools so . . . I'm guessing that our esteemed PhD-Scholar is either an almunus or an employee of the entity in question.

The fake school, fake accreditor and PhD-Scholar are all in the same city.

    I have a hunch that it isn't a coincidence.

Well, since you're so knowledgeable, perhaps you can explain how this institution can possibly be legitimate when it claims accreditation from an unrecognized body? And also, how one can assume the institution and the accreditor aren't controlled by the same people when their web sites look the same, their mailing addresses are both in Philadelphia, and their web sites sit on the same server?

Thank goodness we have a smart person with a law degree from the United States like you to explain this, because otherwise it would incredibly difficult to see how this thing could possibly be legitimate!
